Not necessarily. If you get trashed, you may very well not be. Have you developed a tolerance for alcohol? Does it take 3 or 4 more drinks than it would take the average person to get drunk? If it does, you *might* be an alcoholic.
Try to go a week without any alcohol. If you have strong urges for it and cannot do it, see a doctor an get help. There are many places that can help you and plenty of support groups out there. AA works wonders, so if you do have a problem, try it.

alcoholic? Now I can't tell you how many times I've been called that.I use to drink from the time I got off work till the time I went to bed.I lost a few jobs because of my drinking. But then one day I said to myself I don't wanna drink nomore.Since that day about 5 months ago i have not had a drink. Before that i would easily drink 3 cases of beer and a fivth of whiskey every weekend, and just quit cold turkey.I think alcoholic is a made up word to make the working class people trying to relax look bad.

If you can go without, you are not an alcoholic. (my opinion) You may need to slow down or get help before it goes any further, but as long as you can go without (during the day) and not sneaking off to the bathroom for a shot every hour, than I think there may still be hope. Look into some help, otherwise you may be calling yourself that in a couple of months.

Probably. Stop drinking for a while and see how you react. If you can't, then you probably fit the description, which is even more reason to stop for a while.
