He was talking about the end of time. It is coming. I was crying and all that other good stuff. My boyfreind and I went to the alter and everyone was around us... I guess i was crying and shaking. We went back that night and a couple of people got the holy ghost. Some guy was speaking in tounges. I don't know what to believe they actually kind of scared me. What is speaking in tounges and how do i know the penecostale church is right for me. I wear makeup i have short hair. i really don't even like skirts unless they come almost up to my booty.. Please give me some answers im just so confused.

It is all nonsense. People can't really speak in tongues, it is an emotional reaction, like the one you had, but much stronger.

The end is not coming soon. Not even close. What is more important than precisely when, is that you will live allof your life and you and everyone you know will die of old age or disease before that happens.

If Pentacostal have beliefs that you can agree with, and help you to live a happier or more productive life, and deal with the stresses and problems that come with life, then it may be fore you.

From a spiritual perspective, any path you choose to take that gives you those things is the right path. If a church or religion tells you that they are right, and you will go to heaven if you follow their tenets, and that other religions are wrong, and you will go to hell if you follow them then BIG RED FLAGS and ALARMS should go off. Leave immediately and never go back.

You should go to a church that makes you feel comfortable. Worship is different for different people and Pentecostal and Charismatic churches aren't for everyone. The idea behind speaking in tounges is that the holy spirit is speaking through you. You should however ALWAYS have a translator native to that tounge. Unfortunately, some people take advantage of the emotional state of people in worship and that can be very bad. I have answered many altar calls and felt the presence of God and I do not attend such churches. If it makes you uncomfortable, try a more contemporary church. There are plenty around that cater to a younger crowd without all the drama :)

I can understand your confusion. I know several people who attend a pentacostal church and that's a very normal ocurrance at their services. The best thing I can tell you is to study the Bible. It will tell you what is right. Start with the book of John in the New Testament and read through to the book of Jude. It will help you know Jesus and what He expects from those who want to follow Him. I normally don't point anyone to a specific church because each church is as different as leaves on a tree. I always suggest attending a church where the Bible is taught straight from the pulpit. And clothes or makeup don't matter to Jesus, and shouldn't matter in your church attendance. We have bikers come to our church and they are very welcome. Of course, even our pastor rides a bike, so I guess that helps. And so do my husband and I. It's what's in your heart that Jesus looks at, not on the outside. All the other stuff that goes with church is just extra stuff, and doesn't really matter for salvation. It's all in The Book! <*)))><

You are heading in the correct path.Yes, we are living in the end time or last days.Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit is the endowment of God's power. In other words He comes to abide with us forever John 14:16. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is evidenced by speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance Acts 2:4 .You need not worry about your dress and hair because the way you are now is modest.

the first time I went to a pentacostal style church, I was scared too.
speaking in tongues is Biblical...
Acts 2:4 (New International Version)

4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
Jesus even said to!
Mark 16:15-20
15He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

19After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
Speaking in tongues is a gift from God! It's your own personal hotline to Him! and the first time I did it I was so scared!
but you know what? with a lof the stuff on this forum being contradictatory and rife with christian haters... you should go back to that church and actually SIT down and talk with somebody...
they won't snap at you about hair or makeup, and somebody will give you a lapcloth while you're there so nobody will be embarrased...
Pentecost... the 50th day after Passover, a celebration in the Jewish temple, it is also the day the Holy Spirit was made known in the Earth through the acts of the Apostles as recorded in the Book of acts. Pentecostals believe that the Holy Spirit is still moving in the Earth today proving God's Word with miracles, signs and wonders.... it's pretty amazing stuff... go back to that church.....PLEASE!

I don't know about the tongues part BUT I can tell you if you have to ask if a church is right for you? then it's more than likely not. Church should never be scary. My husband was raised in a Pentecostal church, and it almost ruined him with church(they had him believing he was possessed when he was 6) he was traumatized. We now attend a Baptist church and have never felt better about our faith, good luck and I understand your feelings, I'll keep you in my prayers

Speaking in tounges is supposed to be the ultimate in being close to God and your faith. Only the super "holy" can do it. I'm a Christian, and personally if that church scared you and freaked you out that much, it's probably not for you. Keep looking!!

If you went to a Jesus only church, united Pentecostal, you will encounter a lot of bondage. I recommend a Pentecostal Holiness church, Pentecostal Church of God or an Assembly of God church. Speaking in toques is in the bible and so is the Holy Ghost. I wish you the best.

you will KNOW in your heart what is right for you. speaking in tongues is a gift from GOD. It is a direct communication with GOD and not everyone has this gift. You were feeling the Holy Ghost when you were crying and all cause it touched your heart. Your manner of dress is your own preference and when you get a closer relationship with God you will make different choices. Look deep in your heart.
God Bless You!!!
