Name means: "tyrant lizard king"
Length: 40 feet (14 meters)
Weight: 7.5 tons
Time: Late Cretaceous (65 million years ago)
T. rex's head was four feet long! It had 6-inch teeth!

During the Cretaceous period, (140 million to 70 million years ago) many dinosaurs
roamed the earth. More than likely the following dinosaurs will sound familiar: 1.
Deinonychus, a meat eater which measured 10 feet long from his snout to the tip of
it's tail, weighed less than 200 lbs. but was extremely agile and fast and had a huge
curved middle toe ( much like the velociraptors in Jurassic Park) which was used
to rip open the body cavity of it's prey. 2. Triceratops, a huge, 6 to 8 ton dinosaur
that ate mostly plants and berrys, was 25 to 30 feet long from it's snout to the tail tip.
It had horns on it's head for protection and is a distant relative of our modern day
Rhinosaurus. 3. Pteranodon, a long winged pterosaur with a short body and leathery-
like wings. It fed mostly on fish which it would catch by diving down towards the water
and scooping up fish in it's beak. 4.Velociraptor, a 6 foot long carnivore that closely
resembled it's larger cousin, Deinonychus. It was smaller, but very ferocious and had
an oversized claw on the second toe of it's hind legs which were used to rip open it's
prey, and probably the most feared carnivore to every walk the earth..Tyrannosaurus
Rex.

This large meat-eater stood over 20 feet tall, weighed over 7 tons and was 50 feet long
from it's snout to the tip of it's tail. It's head was over 4 foot long and it's teeth were
over 6 inches in length. The name Tyrannosaurus rex, means terrible or tyrant lizard,
and from all indications of history, it lived up to it's name....and then some. Not very
much is known about their mating habits but it is generally agreed upon that they layed
over a dozen eggs at a time and that these eggs, considering the huge size of T.Rex,
were not very big at all. The resulting baby dinosaurs were rather small and were easy
prey for other meat eaters of that period.

Everything we have been able to discern about these reptiles have come from fossils.
Bones, footprints, teeth marks on the bones of their prey and fossilized eggs have been
able to speak volumes about the habits, diets, and everyday life of T. Rex.

The hind legs of the T. Rex were massively muscled and were used not only to pursue
it's prey, but to hold down the victim while it's long, razor-sharp, serrated teeth ripped
the unfortunate creature to shreds. The T. Rex could, based on footprints of it's stride,
probably run over 30 m.p.h. which was fast enough to catch most other dinosaurs.

HOPE THIS HELPED YOU OUT....I"M SENDING YOU PICTURES TO OF THE T-REX!
