What happened to Jesus afterwards is that he stayed on earth for awhile - I think it was maybe 40 days - sorry, not certain at the moment. Then, he ascended into heaven where he sits beside the throne of God. When the resurrection happens, Jesus will come back to earth and will take all those who believe in him to heaven. There is a great deal if discussion on the exact details of the resurrection, but those ar ethe very basics. Jesus appeared to many people during his time on earth after his death. The fact that he appeared to women first and that the angels gave Mary Magdalen the message to tell the disciples Jesus was alive is very interesting b/c she was a woman and women at that time were not highly regarded. If the story was made up by Jesus's followers, it would be stupid for them to have a woman saying that Jesus was alive - it wouldn't have sounded credible at the time - but if the story is true, as I believe, then God could choose whomever he wanted to tell first that he was alive. A good book to read if you have questions about these things is The Case for Christ and The Case for Faith. Look them up - you can prob. get a cheap copy from half.com or ebay.

I had once come to the same conclusion as you -- that all religions seem to be false. Yet --even with my doubts-- I kept searching for answers, & finally asked 'the right' persons, & found out that --yes, it's true regarding all man-made religions-- however, there is a group that does teach God's Truth ...
Don't believe what anyone tells you --including me-- other than what is in direct harmony with what God & Christ have said themselves. These 'sayings' have been recorded for our benefit, & the following articles serve as guides to where they are, so that they can be easily compared together. You can think of the Bible as several jigsaw puzzles (each puzzle representing a subject),whose pieces are all mixed together ... In order to see any of the pictures clearly, we need to search for all the appropriate pieces, then study how they fit together. The following articles are written by Bible scholars who have already done a lot of that work. We only need to examine the results to make sure they are harmonious with the Bible's/God's message ...

There was no Constantinople Council in 555. It was the Council of Nicea in 325, and they did not establish or create Christ's divinity, they merely affirmed what the Church had believed since the first century.
The Bible tells us that Christ ascended to Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He lives and reigns.
We have been given free will so you're free to not believe. It's all a matter of faith.

I like to believe that zombie Jesus came back from the dead and ate all the people's brains, thus forming Christianity.... lol Seriously, though, word has it that he came back from the dead to prove to the non-believers that God and he do exist and to tell them he will be back. Then he rose to Heaven to sit next to God.. on the right hand side. That is why the left hand was once considered evil and they killed people who were left handed.

He spent time appearing to the disciples and instructing them on how to better go out and spread the faith to people. Then after a set amount of time (I think it says 40 days), he went to heaven where he now waits for the end time.

He ascended to His Father in heaven on the 40th day.
BTW, the first anwerer is wrong, wrong, wrong. The resurrection has alway been a tenet of the faith. It was affirmed in the Council of Nicea in 325 AD.

He is seated at the right hand of God in the Grand Council of Heaven, preparing mansions for those found worthy on earth. He is also preparing for his Kingship on earth. I am sure you can ask him what he was doing when he comes down.
