If you like big dogs, labrador retrievers are nice. They are friendly, adjust well to new surroundings, and are easy to train. I have a black lab who is 80 pounds, overweight, I know, and she is so sweet. We trained her when she was a puppy and she's a good dog with kids because we taught her not to bite. I have a 17 month old niece and she sticks her hand in the dogs mouth and the dog just licks her hand and turns away.

Any you pick up from an animal shelter with a kill policy. As Kinky Friedman put it, "there are no bad dogs, and there are no good people." We've got three huskies, one is mine, one is my mother's, and one we rescued a couple of weeks ago from a negligent family. We also have two mutts that my husband rescued. Honestly, they all have their own personality, and though I'm partial to my own dog, I wouldn't say any particular breed is any better.

depends on what you are looking for in a dog. If you want a good watchdog get a german Shephard they are excellent for that. We have 2 American Bulldogs right now they look mean but will kiss you to death.

Definitely think about the place where you live, your lifestyle and all that. Go to www.akc.org and look at the different breeds to see what you like.

Personally I think that Pembroke Welsh Corgis are the best but that's just cause I adore mine!

I have a chihuahua mix mutt, and I love everything about him. Too bad I didn't adopt his bothers so I can have more to love!!!! :) If not this mix, then I'd have to say Labradors, and Beagles....ok I just love dogs.
