Or should they just invite the terrorists over for tea and have a discussion like the UN and anti-war liberals believe?

Everyone has the right to defend themselves. Including countries.

i say everybody has the right to defend themselves. but the question is...is defending yourself attacking?? especially civil houses, airport, and places where civilians are, plus all that using "illegal" chemical bombs, as the mustard gas,(gases that make u feel sick an d want to puke) the list does continue.. isn't that what the US calls Terrorism??? i am not saying that Hezbollah is perfect or haven't made bad decisions, but we all must wake up and realize we are not in Napoleonic times "where the best way to defend is to attack." we all know that Israel militarily is strong, and have much more sophisticated weapons. i would not be amazed if Hezbollah is using weapons that are "handy downs" from the soviet union.
In ur question u used the word Terrorists, even though many might not understand whom are u referring to, but i did. u were referring to Hezbollah . but in a way i think u are wrong. Hezbollah is a militia, and not a terrorist organization. we all know that the US believe in the "right to bear arms" and the right to create a militia. Not even in a million years will the untied states de-announce people creating their own militia, because they believe that the Militia was the roots of their success in having their independence from what they called lobster savages, Britain (propaganda again).

i Personally think they should have a cup of coffee or tea (but I say cold drink, so if any body throws his cup at the other: p). it has been only a couple of days and the losses of both sides has been devastating. However, it seems, as both sides do want to have an open war. The war will not only be an open war but a war of strategy versus strength. Let us wait and see what is to come.

Israeli Government officials and Defense Aircraft Industry representatives said last week's test of the Arrow Missile Defense System off the coast of California was a success and that they plan to deploy the system as a national defense against threats from hostile countries.

The Arrow missile defense system, a joint U.S-Israeli venture, for the first time shot down an actual Scud ballistic missile on July 29 in a test at Point Mugu Sea Range in California (DAILY, July 30). Arieh Herzog, director of the Israel Missile Defense Organization, called the test "a real success."

The interception was the 12th operational test of the system, which previously has intercepted simulated Scuds. Arrow missiles are roughly 25 feet long and are designed to detect and track missiles in less than three minutes and at altitudes of more than 30 miles. It has the ability to disable incoming warheads by exploding within up to 50 yards of the target.

Herzog says, "Israel faces threats from Syria, which has a cache of Scud missiles, and Iran, which he said has longer range, more sophisticated Shahab-3 missiles."

Israel plans a two-tier Defense System, with the first tier consisting of Patriot Missiles and the second tier being Arrow Missiles.
The country is developing a reconfiguration of Arrow so that it has one command and control center and numerous radar and launch sites scattered throughout the country to make up a National Missile Defense System. That system is set for deployment "in a few years," Herzog said.

What about the terrorists in Israel? There was a story this morning about an article in an Israeli newspaper that correctly pointed out how the Israelis think it is fine to kidnap or murder innocent Palestinians, but then they get all pushed out of shape when other kidnap or murder Israelis. The bottom line is that the Israelis (like most others) think they are justified in doing whatever they want, no matter how awful, but they don't think other people should do those same awful things to them. It is called hypocrisy.

Yes they do, the Israelis have a right to defend them selves, they gave up the Gaza Strip for Lebanon, and all they got in return was their soldiers kidnapped and rockets in return. Hezbollah started it , but they keep calling for Israel to show restraint they can't and survive they are surrounded by enemies. Hezbollah sends rockets and they don't care who they hit, so why should the Israelis.

What most people don't understand about Israel is that if they don't stop the surrounding countries from attacking them then Israel wont exist because they all hate Israel and Israel doesn't exist on their maps so next time someone gets mad at Israel be informed before you talk about how evil Israel is

Tommy Boy: A hydrogen bomb would cause immense devastation. You're thinking of a neutron bomb.

I believe Israel has every right to defend itself.

Me. Should they just be French and say come on in? Arab extremists only understand force. Diplomacy is seen as weekness by them.

Thats why when Israel gave up land Hezbollah declared that they had won the first war against Israel.

it seems the terrorist term is loosely used now a days, and it is pretext to attacking anybody ...if history can speak it will shout that Israel has committed many acts that we can call terrorism today...the militant group in southern Lebanon had called for prisoners swap from the start of the recent conflict because Israel holds thousands of them for decades and refuses to release them...if no UN resolutions are accepted or enforced on Israel while enforced on other countries its bound to create reactions and thus militant groups that adopt violence out of desperation will arise....Israel is an apartheid state who refuses to give people their land back...!!!
