My 11 yr old is the youngest in our family. With an older brother and sister, her way in life has been paved in many ways. Now that I fully understand how childhood disappears the moment that puberty kicks in, I am savoring every moment that this little girl is still my "little" girl.

I loved all of my children at age 11 ... I don't know how I could have loved them more. But there is something about this one - I guess I sense that she is the last 11 yr old I will ever have. Each moment with her is heaven on earth. She is so eager to please me, so happy to hug me and tell me she loves me. My heart is filled with joy when she smiles at me. How did I get to be so lucky to be blessed with such a treasure as she? And she calls me daddy, sits on my lap every chance she gets, tells me how much she loves me, draws wonderful pictures for me, paints incredilble art on canvas for me, and asks me to sing her to sleep at night. Somewhere in there is the best part but I don't know if I can point it out for you.

Both the best and the worst part of being a parent of a child of any age - realizing that "this too shall pass."

I have an 11 yr old girl - I love watching her personality develop and seeing her become a young woman. She is still in that spot between tom boy, girlie girl and little kid. At that age, she can have it all! Each day is still an adventure to her, and to us because we never know which personality is going to walk out of her room each morning!

She's just now beginning to appreciate subtle humor. That has made her a lot more fun.

Your child has probably not yet discovered that you can be wrong! (But he/she will figure this out pretty soon. Get ready for a whole new relationship!)
