Doing this with only the support of friends online is very hard!

Any ideas on what I can do?

NOTE to Muslims and Muslimas: PLEASE ignore any negative comments I am sure this question will draw. Allah commands us to be peaceful... let's show that we know what that peace is all about.

Asalamu'alaikum. :)

I've searched and called all of the numbers I have found online. The nearest masjid is over 2 hours away from me, and the nearest Islamic Center is 45 minutes away and they don't answer their phone and there is no way for me to contact them online...

Trust me, I live in the Bible Belt (In rural Kentucky)... there is NOT a masjid anywhere near me!

Wa alaikum alsalaam dear sister,

Have you tried http://www.islamicfinder.com/? Being a good Muslim is dependable on going to a mosque or associating with Muslims, rather than following the tenets of Islam and being a good person, citizen. I do agree that having support from others and going a mosque does give you sense of belonging that can benifit the soul.

So, it's up to you, your faith is the most important thing, if having contact with the Muslim community will protect you religion and decrease the chances of you losing your faith than maybe moving would be the answer.
If not, remember that this struggle shall be rewarded by Allah (swt).

There are stuff you can do, like attending ISNA functions, or other muslims functions, bringing Muslim tv channels into your home.. and inviting Muslims to your area. That's how communities are built in the first place.

May Allah (swt) make you strong and ease the difficulties.

Waalaikum salaam
You just have to follow the five basic principles of Islam and follow the beloved Prophet's teachings and preachings to the fullest extent possible....Instill in you the habit of reciting the Holy Koran daily and try to understand the true meaning with the help of a trusted scholar if available....You can always stick to the basics if you dont have much access to a good muslim community or a mosque in your locality...
Obey the words of Allah and the beloved Prophet Mohammed(pbuh) and obey and respect your parents for whatever they are and seek Almighty Allah's forgiveness and mercy..........

Anyone of any faith should be strong from with-in.
If you seek strength from others they might be weak also.
Our relationship between us and our 'God' or Maker of choice is between us. Between OUR MAKER or Higher being and US.
You need to build strength from the faith you have!
Being strong on our own is true strength.
It is great to have validation from others, but many of us are alone for whatever reasons.
Maybe you can find a group of students or others that believe as you do and bond with them, use the computer as a tool to find such groups .
You do not say where you are and I did not look at your profile, but here are some groups I found.
PEACE in ALL !
AND to all who are trying to shove GOD down our throats you need to stop it!
Stop being so close minded and hateful!
You would not want other religons shoved at you!
IN PEACE...Namaste!

ALLAH tells you to not befriend Christians and Jews and in fact kill all non-believers of Islam. I say you should become a christian but it's really your decision to pay attention to the Quran or the The Holy Bible.

Call me crazy, but I doubt Allah ever said that being a good follower required the presence of anything external (like a mosque, or other followers) in your life. From whence does your faith arise, after all?

serving the humanityand be nice to others . And atleast pray once a day will keep you close to God. Going mosques doesn't necessary make you a good Muslim. It's just like going to Mc Donalds doesn't make you a Hambuger!!!!

You can't please God by being a good Muslim, or for that matter a good Christian, or a good anything.

The Bible says " ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God"

In other words, All deserve eternal damnation.
Yet God "who is rich in mercy sent His own Son, so that whosoever puts their trust in Him (and what he did on the cross) shall have eternal life".

Read all about it in the Bible

in the same way that i was a (trying to be) good christian everytime i have been to the middle east. by praying and showing my devotion to God.

God does not require you to be in a building to show your devotion, that is a human thing from back when only the church had the money to purchase a bible, torah or koran.

God be with you, as well.
