Very interesting question.
Actually if you believe the Catholic doctrine on angels you will see very few angels were given names by God. (Only Gabrial and Micheal are mentioned outright in the Bible)
Some religious scholars say that God didn't want people to see angels as "Semi-devine" so God demeans them as much as possible so the angels don't look righteous enough to be worshiped.

if the saying is true that angels are ur past friends and family who watch over u than yes of course u can love angels because u loved them here on earth u wouldnt stop lovin them just because there dead

There is no such thing as angels. Why don't you ask 'can you love leprechauns? Can you love unicorns?'. You can love imaginary creatures if you want. Just don't pretend that they are real.
