There are a lot of people that say it is. It is low impact and good resistance training.

Swimming works almost every muscle in the body, is a good cardio exercise, and is easy on joints, so the risk of injury is low. I would recommend high-intesity interval training, where you swim as fast as you can for around 1 minute, then slow to a moderate pace and recover for around 1 minute, then repeat.

Yes . Swimming in an excellent exercise, not only because it uses so many different muscles, but also because it is low impact on joints, and therefore more gentle on your body than many other exercises.

I don't know but swimming burns 3X the calories as opposed to stuff like cycling, weight training, elliptical machines, etc.

I surf alot and from that my upper body is ripped. So I would think swimming is even more work because you don't have the board under you.

It's definitely a wonderful way to exercise, a real full body workout, but I can't say if it's the best...

swimming is the most efficient exercise because it employs virtually every muscle group.

It's good for your body, but it's not aerobic, so it's not the best total exercise.

it's probably not the best, but it is a really good one. running is probably the best....but don't quote me on it

it is and the least strain on your joints.
Something you can do until you are a ripe old age.
