In my town I see 62 year old men and women screaming "Welcome home" to the young troops as they step off the planes and walk toward down town Mt Clemens. These same people cussed the Vietnam Veterans back in 1971 and 1973 when those troops came home. Guess what we did? As those old prune faced old war protesters walked over to my American Legion buddies who are Vietnam Vets we turned our backs on those old war protesters. We just turned our backs on them and didn't say a word. Let them praise the Iraqi troops. We have long memories and all they will see is our backs.

Those people back then were the liberal hippy assholes of our time, with their free love and drug indused comas, now they are in our government and the head of fourtune 500 companies and the head of our news media, that is why they criticize everything our troops do, if their are a few bad apples in our troops then they label them all that way, they all ready have them tried and convicted, the baby boomers are the worst generation every produced in this country. The only thing different about them is they cut their hair and put on suits, but they are the editories of the New York and LA times and most of the liberal press, they are the GREDDY people of Enron and other fourtune 500 companies, and most of our Professors in our colleges are the liberal hippy anti-Americans assholes that are teaching our young students to also hate this country. The baby boom generation goes from 1946 to 1965 they are the ones in our government and news media and colleges that are passing on their anti- American ideas to our young people and their children, most of the baby boom generation have wised up now that is why you see some of them trying to make up to our Vietnam Vets, but that is impossible to do. I watched those liberal assholes spit on our Vets, they were only doing what they were ordered to do, just like our troops today. The liberal press will report once or twice what the terrorist do to our young troops, but their is no condemnation or outrage of what thoes animals did to our soldiers that were kidnapped and beheaded , But if our soldiers do something bad then they are the worst people on the face of the earth, and their is outrage about their actiions, where is the outrage for the terrorists. The liberal asshole media are the worst of our generation, how do I no all this I watched those assholes spit on our troops that were coming home from Vitenam, I watched those college students hold up their anti- American signs and was ashamed that I belong to that generation. And all of you are being fed the same anti-American bullsh*t and anti-government rederick we seen from those collage brats back then. Wise up before it's to late take some pride in your country, instead of down grading it all the time. I no I lived it, they are the sickest of the baby boomers, and their motto back then was (don't trust anyone over thirty) now they are Greddy old farts that still don't no what they are talking about. I think the drugs they took back then damaged their brains. Sorry for the rant they make me sick.

As a soldier of 10 years I hope the answer will be no but the Irony of the situation is that the troops in Vietnam were largely draftees conscripted into the fight. But today's military is voluntary and most of the soldiers today enlisted or reenlisted after 2001 as the max enlistment and reenlistment is 6 years. So I would say that we all know what we are in for and what are job is all about, it's not just college money anymore.

i hope to god that they don't! they don't deserve such disrespect. and neither did the vietnam vets. if you truely want to support and show the protesters we are already seeing that we won't tolerate it here is an email i recieved earlier today....

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority". We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions.
Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that.. Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red.
By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.
The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is...We need your support and your prayers. Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear some thing red every Friday.
IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND THIS ON!
WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED---- SO WEAR RED! --- MAY GOD HELP AMERICA TO BECOME ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, AGAIN!!!

No. People have wised up to the fact the troops are just doing their job. They recognize that the military leadership, all the way up to the President, are the ones calling the shots. I also think the anti-war crowd knows they can score more points by attacking the administration rather than the troops.

War is not personal. You should not blame the troops for doing their duty. You cannot have a situation in which troops pick and choose which wars thet are going to fight in, based on their own consience, or perceived public opinion. Sounds like a recipe for anarchy to me. It also smacks of too much democracy being stirred up by the left wing media.

I don't agree with our involvement in Iraq, nor do I agree with our involvement in the Vietnam War. However, I do not blame our troops. I'd like to think had I been around for the Vietnam War I would not have hated our troops. They sign up to protect our country, but the government doesn't just involve them in protecting us. Why should we blame them? I blame the government.

anyone that has the audacity to spit on a soldier of this country who has put his life on the line for the very place and ideals that these people live in, should be shot. People have to realise that no one hates war more than the soldier who has to fight it, and NO ONE can understand what war is unless you have actually experienced it first hand. My heart goes out to all my soldier brothers and sisters who have fought, are fighting now, and will fight for everything good that this country stands for. May God bless you all.

A lot already have, i myself served in a combat unit in iraq for 2 years, and coming back have been comfronted with those who support us and those who try to spit at us. There is no law against it, it is freedom of speech, which we fought for. I just hope our veterans these days don't have to put up with what veterans from vietnam did. Honor your country America!!!

It was a shamfull moment for our country in respect to how we treated the returning soldiers from Vietnam. Regardless of your politics, we need to be Americans first and fully support our brave brothers and sisters who are putting their lives on the line each day in Iraq.

No, they will not. Our society has matured a little since then. We now know that even if we are politically against the war, it should not be taken out on the soldiers who served there. The war was not their fault, they simply had to do what they were told to do.

God Bless our Troops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
