You don't need one as long as you are able to be stable on your own. I am sure she will understand... no kid is supposed to live with their parent forever!

Hi
Your email shows you have concerns leaving your mom, you must be feeling restricted and supressed or wanting more freedom in your life. You say your mom is single, its her choice to remain so. But you have a life, and you have to move on, if she is hurt by you moving out, then she has to deal with her empty nest, how long do you plan to keep her happy by living with her, her happiness is not dependent on you, she needs to find her own happiness, you are only moving out of the house not from her life. As a son i am sure you will need her support to face life, you can take her help, just as you are having the pains of growth, she too will have hers, Every mother goes through this and so will your mom too,
How about letting her know how much you love her and also the reason for moving out. Honesty always makes life's challenges easy. At first she will feel sad, but eventually she will realize that you were honest. This will help build long and trusting relationship.
Hope this helps you.

Don't give her an excuse. Sit down and explain why you want to move out. Be honest. If you make up an excuse, she will see through it anyway. Then her feelings will be hurt even more because she will know you didn't feel like you could talk to her.

I'm a single mom and would much rather hear the truth than some stupid lie. Show her some respect with the truth!

You dont need an excuse! Tell her you want to live alone and find out what it is like to live alone. You want to grow up and be independant.

Tell her the truth, you're a man now. She'll probably be happier than you think. She might want some independence and privacy herself.

Just tell her you're gay and you and your lover want to move to Syria where you can learn to be terrorists... You won't be able to get out of the house fast enough to suite her.

Just be truthful! Tell her that it is time for you to move on and that she will always be a part of your life.

Why give an excuse? That's stupid. Just tell her the TRUTH.
