it can put you at a strategic advantage if someone thinks you're not smart, but you are.
Consider the husband who (pretends) he is too stupid to do dishes. He just breaks them and doesn't get them clean. How long will he have to keep doing it, if the wife cares about the dishes?
Or, how about a guy who shows up at a poker game and claims to not know how to play, but in reality is a world class player?

Its easier to act dumb tha smart. Try knowing every single component of a computer and then chtting about it with other people without looking like you're trying too hard. Does it seem that easy?

Because they are dumb. Essentially, they think their friends are stupid so they must be stupid to fit in.
Also, is becomes pretty obvious if you are trying to act smart and are not smart.
Be who you are. If you feel you must act dumb then it is a good sign you have the wrong friends.

Chelsea, there is a preconceived idea that people who are smart are dull, boring, nerdy...but forget them! People who act dumb are not necessarily dumb; they think being smart is really dumb. I think sometimes our country praises silliness and not common and horse sense. It is nothing wrong with being smart, and smartness is not just book sense. It is having a great deal of common sense too. It is a shame that people do not ask questions more often; that's really dumb, you know?

Because stupidity is in for some reason. Talking stupid and using bad grammar is "cool". People riducule nerds for knowing things. People admires actors, sports starrs and musicians which many are quite dumb and unintelligent. Sure there are some smart ones but not alot. People want to fall into money like them by not working hard.
So in effect people are lazy as well.

I think you're making a mistake in believing that people "try" to act dumb. People just "are" dumb. Very little trying is needed.

Actually you do not realize lot of poeple act smart. You only see people actinf dumb. Just like me, I only see this is a dumb question.

It's harder to act smart, if indeed you are putting on an act or afraid you will be wrong at some point.

well ussually gals do...coz they wan poeple to do stuff for them.
Coz when you act dumb people cant catch u easy n they wont wanna anyways and to act smart you ve got to have loadsa confidence.
