Sweetheart, just be yourself. The people who are truly your friends or want to be your friend will see the true you. If you change yourself, you're not growing. You're making it seem as if something's wrong with you. It is not. Now, if you want to change for you--look into doing little things for yourself, like maybe a hairstyle or new t-shirts or accessories. School is truly a place for you to learn and to have a little fun, not base your life on whether people like you or not.

Dress appropriately, do homework and study-they are not the same, use common sense, volunteer to help in different programs, decorate the halls or auditorium or gym for special events. SMILE and keep your head in the books and don't TRY to be popular. Popularity is'nt as great as you think because it brings tons of peer pressure and that can get you into trouble! Don't let a bad day get you down-keep heading toward your goal and you will make it, I promise!

You're not clear on exactly what kind of change you want people to see. Have you actually changed? Trying to put on a show would only work for so long, anyway; the best thing is to be yourself, and be consistently true to who you want to be.

In the end, it's as much about them & their own preconceived notions, anyway; and that's the part over which you have no control, so worrying about it will only distract you from focusing on who you are & who you want to be. Good luck!

If you want people to see a change, make a change. What do you want people to see? Do you actually want to be that kind of person? Forget the image. Be the person you really are. You will find friends that like the real you.
During my high school years, I was who I thought my friends wanted me to be. I learned to like the cool music, wear cool clothes, etc. What a waste! Now I have real friends who like the real me. And some people, including my exwife who don't like the real me.

People who are really your friends will notice changes in you. People who you are just trying to impress to increase your popularity probably won't notice or won't care. Forget popularity. It's not going to matter later in life.
