That is a hard one. Doctors from time to time will try to get legal orders to go around people's religous beliefs because it will safe their life. Not celebrating anything is not child abuse, but it can make children feel like they are different. It would be good that if instead of celebrating they spent that money on a family vacation, or did something else, so that everyone still feels special.
Any extreme religious belief can be abuseive to children, it is a fine line between feeling that god will take care of you and that modern medicine is the only was to survive.
My answer is generally no, I wouldn't consider Jehovah's Witnesses child abusers, but the possibility of abuse exists.

Some of those things you pointed out, like not celebrating holidays or birthdays, wouldn't be considered child abuse. The issue of withholding medical treatment, though, is a lot more complicated. There has been cases where the courts have taken away children from JW homes, or others, in order to get them proper medical care. So in some cases, an JW upbriging can be considered abusive but only in the context of risk to a child's life.

Clearly, this question is intended primarily to insult and demean the Jehovah's Witness religion. Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

NO! i was raised as 1 of JW and i loved going door to door. as far as celebrating holidays, theres 365 days in a year, who ever said that celebrating has 2 be limited 2 only holidays. Jehovah can ressurect the dead, and when he does it will be to everlasting life on a paradise earth, so death from refusing blood would only be temporary. Blood is our life force, it holds our entire makeup, it is sacred to Jehovah. if there are children who are not happy being raised as 1 of JW, and i know there are. it's because their heart is not in it, but as for their parents they are doing what they feel is the right thing to do not only by their children but to Jehovah also.

I had a friend in high school who was/is a JW and you are right about not celebrating birthdays or any holidays, but she was never forced to go door to door. She and her brother never seemed to be lacking any essentials and both have graduated high school, finished university and gone on to I think one if in the legal field and the other is in computers.
I don't think that it is abuse, but maybe just not a favourable set of religious beliefs with the popular majority.

The soul chooses where it incarnates. Some souls are advanced enough to undergo such child abuse, because yes, I think a birthday is a Holy day, and to not validate that would be to the detriment of the child's self-worth.
But these children will be adults one day. Let's hope they learn to choose for themselves, that they truly were advanced enough to undergo this abuse, then rise like a phoenix, from the ashes.
Blessed be.

My wife used to be a JW. After sprouting a brain and leaving the religion (which is when we met) her parents disowned her because she left the religion. What religion would EVER tell you to disown your child because they don't believe in what you believe in? You will most likely never have a true friend in a JW as they are not allowed to hang out with or befriend non-JW's... this keeps their religion and lives "pure". Pure BS if you ask me. I think they're dangerous to themselves (mentally) and due to their beliefs, are a danger to any child around them. Even if your kid were at their house and something happened, I would NOT trust them to call an ambulance in an emergency. is it child abuse... no doubt in my mind!!!

My best friend's family converted to JW when we were eight. I remember feeling so bad for her, because she's a little girl, and all of a sudden, no more Christmas and birthdays. We would sneak her with us to look at Christmas lights.
Not a big fan.

Jehovah's are completly stupid. i mean why not celebrate your own b-day? how about celebrating the many holidays their friends celebrate? not fair. But thats the religion you choose to allow your children to believe in.. so its up to the parents.
