It has certainly gotten solid ratings the last few years and has surpassed many american built trucks in many ratings. The Ford F150 still tops most charts that I have looked. I think the first question you should ask is what are you going to use the truck for? Will the bed be large enough for the payload you have in mind if it is going to be a work truck? If it is more of a commuter vehicle, than look at mileage and longevity. If you are going to modify it as an off road vehicle, you will want to look into aftermarket parts, etc, etc.

Anyone who says you should absolutely pick one of the Toyota, GM or Ford truck models over another is just reacting emotionally and not basing their opinion on fact. All three OEMs build excellent full size trucks with lots of features and good build quality. You will not 'go wrong' with either option. My personal preference is with the F150. There is a reason why F150 is the best selling vehicle on the planet and the imports are struggling with their truck lines. Most of Ford's profits are in the F-series. That's their life. Cars are another story... I buy import cars (Honda or Toyota), but I buy Ford trucks only. It's a proven formula based on decades of listening to their truck dealers and owners.

My son-in-law has a Toyota Tacoma that he uses in his lawn maintenance and landscaping design business. He has had it for several years and he really has mistreated it and it has held up very well. I have a Nissan that I purchased new in 1993 and it has almost 190,000 miles on it and the only trouble I have had with it has been the air conditioning. So I would recommend either one of these 2 .

Most Toyotas are good vehicles However I am told anything after 95 is usually junk...They just don't make cars like they used to. My dad's a mechanic. That's his philosophy. He still drives an 89 camaro

Go to your local library and ask to see the Consumer Reports Car Buying Guide. They rate all the major makes and models for the year on a variety of areas.

You'll never go wrong with a Toyota. I love the Tacoma, we just bought a 4Runner. Do not go with Ford, Chevy or Dodge, you are just asking for headaches.

Toyota---Truck......that's an oxymoron. The Japs can't make a real truck. Go American--Go Dodge!
