If they are professional I would say like $150. If it is just like a church musician then $75 is plenty. It depends on who they are and how much experience they have. Do some research before doing anything!

Good luck!

Are you talking about the reception or the church?

I am a church organist and I charge $150 for the wedding. And I know that I am one of the cheapest. I am sure they will give you a rate.

And I would also like to say I am offended by the person who said a professional should get 100 and if it's "just a church musician" then $75. Church musicians are professionals!!!! (hopefully)

What kind of musician? It really depends on what you are doing. I would say about 100 an hour. You have to make money but you don't want to wipe them out, and 100 is a reasonable price.

cliche or not, you get what you pay for.

Professionals, licensed, insured and worth the money, will cost the money.

Most charge hourly so you can't ballpark a cost without considering how many hours are involved. BUT...you should consider how important the music is to your wedding. Musician or DJ should ALWAYS cost more than your cake!!!

Depends. Bands rates vary.
Probably no less than $100 a piece for 3 hours.
And make sure you at least give them a bologna sandwich.

(edit:) Wow, where do you guys live? My finace is a wonderful musician! I'm moving to where you are!

I'd think $50 per hour per musician, plus an invitation to share the food and one drink, would be fair unless you are a millionaire and these are celebrities.

It depends on how many people are playing in the band and how long they are to play for. Also, are they traveling to get there or is it local? Are they required to learn any special music? This is all taken into consideration when a band gives a cost estimate.
