Like thinking they are hot and all and then they end up being psychos and killers....girls are the number one target to this but sometimes guys are also tied up to this too...so, I mean who cares if they show pics and try to persuade you into meeting up with them....DONT...just do "decent flirting" over the internet and NEVER give out personal info about you...LIES are always best....(by the way I ain't lying about myself...)

I'll mostly agree with salsavinz on this issue. While there is a distinct danger of meeting weirdos and psychos on-line, the real danger comes when it goes face-to-face and things get personal. Where I might differ is that a smart psycho might be able to trace you down and stalk you, and you wouldn't know about it until it's too late.

I believe that the proportion of people using the Internet who are psycho is about the same as the general population at large. However, there are some many people on-line that their numbers seem larger, and with the relative anonymity of screen aliases, they tend to be bolder than in face-to-face first meetings. It's this subgroup that wrecks it for everyone.

No, it is not stupid to meet people on-line. Many of the people that I know I met for the first time through e-mail and on-line forums, and they are perfectly normal (for the most part). However, what is stupid is to let your guard down and ignore the basic rules of how to interact with new people, especially if you are getting to know them from scratch.

It's not the meeting part that's so bad. It's the dating or marrying part. I met my wife online. Ofcourse it wasn't in a random chat room. I specifically searched for people with similar interests to talk to with the intention of just making friends. When I realized I might wanna get more serious about her, I talked to her on the phone, talked to her friends on the phone, and even her parents. Then, I went down with some friends and met her in real life. After we met and I realized that she was who I thought she was, I let down my guard a little and we started dating and really hit it off. So I don't have a problem with meeting people online. I think it's just as big of a chance as meeting a stranger in a bar. The main thing is not to get too attached to someone until you have met them and know what they're all about. Until then, assume they could be a psycho. :)

One can meet ppl from the Internet as long as you play it safe. get their home number (not just cell)... verify it by calling there. Get an address. Meet in the before dark in a very public place. Heck, I met my wife on the Internet, 10 years ago... we are still married!
