Hi!
It is amazing that Catholics still try to justify their ritual of praying through Mary into being biblically acceptable.
I will show you biblically why Mary should not be prayed through:
1.As a Christian, you are not to talk or worship A DEAD HUMAN BEING or spirit:
Isaiah 8:19
And when they say to you, "Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter," should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?
In this chapter, God was warning the Israelites not to ask the dead for anything!
2. THERE IS NO OTHER MEDIATOR BUT JESUS CHRIST:
1Ti 2:5 For there is one God, and there is ONE MEDIATOR BETWEEN GOD and MEN, the man CHRIST JESUS,
Mary should not mediate in any way.
3. MARY WAS A SINNER LIKE ALL OF US:
A sinner cannot intercede for other sinners! Mary is a sinner because she was born of man, and all men are born in sin(Psalm 51:5).She also needed the Blood of Jesus to be cleansed of sins.
Mary called God her "Savior" in Luke 1:47 meaning that she ALSO NEEDED SALVATION LIKE ALL OF US!
4.JESUS ACTUALLY PUT MARY DOWN TO HER HUMANITY:
Jesus here says:
(Matthew 12:48) "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?"

Hi, I'm catholic, so I think I can give you an answer...
at the beginning of chistianism, it doesn't exist the cult to Mary, but when the Roman Imperium acept the new religion, found that in most places the old religions and the cult to the 'Mother Earth' weren't forgotten, so finally it could be said that we transform the 'Mother Earth' to 'Mary'. This isn't a theory, here in Europe, most places venerate a Virgin where in past time was an ancient cult related to Celts or other tribes. Nowadays most Catholics don't know that, so only venerate Mary because in the Bible it's said that she ascended to heaven in body and soul.
And that's all, more or less

Catholics most assuredly do pray directly to Jesus. They also pray to Mary (do not read "worship" Mary here) to ask for intercession. Why not? They pray to them all. They cover all the bases. They really don't pray to Mary, so much as ask Her to pray FOR them, or to intercede on their behalf. They do not worship Mary, but adore her for her crucial role as the Mother of Jesus. Mary was ONLY a human? She was the most divine human, besides Jesus Himself, who EVER lived. I can't understand why people constantly minimize this. God chose Mary, among all the other women who ever lived, past, present and future to be the divine Mother of this Holy Child. That's something pretty special, I'd say. Fairly deserving of adoration.

its about religion-they have been taught wrong-for examples-about only the high people know what is right-the pope is Jesus final word-that money could pay your way out of 'purgetory' in their added books to the bible-between the ot and new testaments-yet-the Charimatic Catholics pray to let Jesus into thier heart-once in he lets them see the light but for most roman catholics many think they have to go through Mary-the bible says "there is one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus" its in the book of Titus-and Mary even stated of Jesus "Behold my savior and my God" the gospels----and about ur other questions and answers im very proud of you-and would like to share about that when u will.

We pray to God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, all the time.
Sometimes we pray all by ourselves.
Sometimes we also pray together with others in our Church.
Sometimes we ask others in our Church to pray for us.
Catholics and many other Christians believe in the Communion of Saints where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.
Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints. You, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.
As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.
With love in Christ.

In Catholicism the function of the saint is as a representation of exceptional and virtuous humanity. We believe in the trinity--the father as the almighty and creater, the son as his perfect manifestation in man, and the holy spirit as his presence in each one of us. The saints are exceptional in that they excude and manifest Catholic principles similiar to that of Christ. Anyone can choose the path of the saint, but few do because it requires a high level of devotion and determination. Each Saint manifests a specific virtue or talent, manifested throughout their life. Take for example St. Barbara the patron saint of artillery men. Because of St. Barbara's affinity towards artillery men, it is understandable for artillery men to seek guidance from her through prayer. There are many other saints, each of which represent a certain virtue or talent. Many women pray for guidance throgh the virgin Mary because she represents feminine virtue, it is understandable they would seek guidance in feminine matters from her. The prayer through the Saints is not like the same prayer to Jesus Christ. The prayer through the Saints is for guidance and understanding, the prayer to Jesus is for a higher goal of spiritual understanding. If you have anymore questions feel free to contact me.

It's the one show of respect to females. Other than that, women have always been regarded only as chattel, babymakers, the mothers of men. This is why The Church has been making political moves towards Islam lately, because both religions are intent on creating more babies born into their groups.

We can pray directly to Jesus.
Have you ever asked a freind to pray for you? That is what we do when we ask for the intercession of Mary and the saints.

You are only to pray to God in Jesus' name...but you are right that Catholics pray to Mary ( which I never understood, but they still do it). Jesus is not to be prayed to, but He is a mediator between us and God.

It was explained to me like this.
I want to contact GOD, but we are afraid of direct contact, so we go through people on his good side (Saints and Mary) who can deliver the message on our behaif while being on Gods good side and being delivered by someone who God will be sure to listen to and respond to.
It's liek talking to dad by having Mom deliver the message for you, so it isn't looked over.
I know it sound weard to people outside there faith, but it makes sence to the Catholics, so why question. They arn't worskiping the Saints, or going outside God, they are just sidestepping the message.
