To answer this question simply, many single people do not want to be single. That is why it's the status quo.

However, there are always exceptions. Not everyone recognizes this, though.

If it bothers you so much that a person asks why you are single, then you're obviously bothered that you are single.

In the end, no one wants to grow old alone. But at the same time, it does take time to meet the right person. I was single for three years before I met my soulmate.

But within those 3 years, no one questioned me why I was single--maybe because I hung out with happy single people who didn't spend half of their energy wondering why we're all single, and instead did fun things that made us appreciate why being single was great.

People probally think that because when they are single they are unhappy so when every one else is single they have to be unhappy just like they were when they were single..

only one in 100 people are asexual. So 99% of the time people are happier when they are a couple, even people who think they are fine single.

Why does it matter to you if other people think you are unhappy. If you are happy, then their thoughts carry no weight.

its either they are unhappy or in denial, like this cousin who told me "marriage? not for me", mind you she is sleeping with a married man, so she is denial coz she cant find a man for her and she is already in her forties so she uses the excuse that marriage or relationship is not for her when she is sleeping around with a married man. its either lesbian/denial/unhappy and angry with life.
