Absolutely, there are local rescues that will adopt him out, and you can post an ad for re-homing, on Petfinder.com and Craigslist.org
Just give the appearance, age, whether or not he is altered, etc. And a small re-homing fee (usually no more than $20)

Yes you could try
-Giving him to the local amimal shelter
-Giving him to a friend or relative
-Putting up signes to find your cat a new home
-Put a ad in the new paper that you got a cat that needs a new home
-Try the freebies in the newspaper thats where we got our cat from
-Around here their is this lady called the "cat lady" she has a home and takes cats like a animal shelter but runs it more like a no kill animal shelter so try and find somone like that in your area
-Check the phone book and see what other kinds of places their are for cats you have to get rid of..
I think you see that their are many ways to get rid of your cat that are better then abandoning him..... Please do the right thing...

I cringe when I hear someone say "get rid of my cat" as though you are taking out the trash. When you abandon a cat it can die a slow and terrible death or tortured and abused by many people.
If you take the cat to the shelter it will most likely die. Do not believe them when they say they will find it a home for I worked at a shelter and unless it is a no-kill shelter the cat will DIE.
There are other ways listed here to find a home and I wish you luck for the sake of the poor kitty you are trying "to get rid of".

of course there are! any person that would just abandon any animal is sick. the best thing to do is to ask people you know if they or anyone they know is interested in a cat. make sure to let them know about your cat, like its personality and little quirks. if not, then call around to any local shelters you have in your area to see which ones are no kill. as a last resort you can take your pet to an animal control and adoption services facility if you have one in your area, but know that there will then be the chance you cat will be euthanized. definitely do something, just don't abandon it because that is considered animal abuse.

Local animal shelter. Don't be lazy and just let it go, that's cruel!!!

The use your common sense sweetie and take the cat to the animal shelter or don't have a pet at all.

YES! Take him to a local animal shelter. Don't just abandon him. That is cruel and against the law in most states.

Animal Shelter or advertise in a local paper that you have a free cat to give away and people will be calling non stop.

Put an ad in your local paper. There will be plenty of people that would want him. Especially if you phrase it in your ad like you did here and tell them you plan on "abandoning him". (which isn't very nice by the way) Ask you friends and coworkers, I'm sure someone will love him.

Try giving him away to a friend, or a pet store. Don't take him to the SPCA, if he is not sold within a certain time limit they will put it to sleep.
