My best friend is married and younger brother is not. Who do I choose as my best man? Should I consider the toast when making that determination? Is family more important when it comes to the wedding? Or is it marriage status?

marriage status should have nothing to with it, you should pick the person that has been there for you and who you are very very close to

My maid of honor is my best friend. My sister is a bridesmaid. My married friend is a bridesmaid. Marital status has nothing to do with men, in the case of women they are referred to as Maid of Honor (single) or Matron of Honor (married). Choose who you feel would make that day special for you. There are some duties involved too so whoever you choose should be a good influence and responsible. If you are terrified your brother will get drunk and bring up an embarrassing story from when you were15 during the speech then you might want to think about it. The best man holds the ring and is there for moral support when you need it. Yes it is about who is closest to you but you also need to think in terms of who is the "best man" for the job. Good luck.

First of all you don't have to have a best man. With only two people, they can share the best man duties...but if you want to choose one I'd say go with who you're closest to. Personally I went with my sister...we're close and plus, to me family is everything. But it might not be the same thing for you - just go with what you feel.

Also I've never heard of anyone choosing on the basis of marriage status, so I personally don't think you need to take that into account. Good luck, and I'm sure no matter who you choose it will turn out well.

Who are you closer to? Do you share more and do more with you're best friend or you're brother? Who is the one you can tell anything to? Who is more supportive of you're marriage? Is you're younger brother old enough to throw you a bachelor party? You're best friend can just as easily make a fool of himself or you during the toast. You're family is very important, but just because you have a brother doesn't mean that you have to make him you're best man. My fiances best man will be his younger brother (24yrs old) because he does share more and do more with his younger brother than he does with his best friend. When his older brother got married, he chose his best friend instead of one of his two brothers.Guys don't take these kinds of things to the heart like women do....i'm sure it will be fine no matter what you did...this is you're wedding not you're brothers, not you're best friends. My maid of honor will be my best friend instead of one of my two sisters, my little sister was a little mad but soon got over it. Don't worry about pleasing you're wedding party,it's not worth it to stress over it...again it's you're wedding.

It depends on who you want to it to be. Which one are you closer to? It does not matter age or marital status. You need to decide which one you feel would be the best at doing this important job in your wedding. It is a lot of responsibility and you wanted to remember that in your decision.

Good luck!

It's totally up to you. Why not have both of them be your best man? The older one could take on the toast. When we got married, my step-son was best man along with my brother-in-law (my husbands brother) and he took care of the toast and hanging on to the ring because my step-son is only 12. But my step-son didn't mind and actually was so happy to have such a prestigous title!

choose the brother for your best man then let both of them toast the couple together.

It is who is closer to you. Only you can make this decision. If your brother is too young, he won't be able to be responsible for the things you need him to do, though.

You can have two best men - - my brother did that and it turned out nice.

Which one are you closest to? Which one do you spend more time with? Think of that in making your decision....
