I rescued this kitten at 7 weeks old. It was feral and now tamed and 10 weeks old. But this one has an obsession of nursing on my clothing and I do not know what to do to stop it. He gets my shirt all wet and I usually just put him on the floor but he will jump right back up and continue to suck on my shirt.
I am sure he will outgrow it but I can't even hold him without him sucking on my shirt.
I do TNR and take the kittens to tame and find homes for them. I spay and neuter all my cats before they go to their new homes.

These kittens were taken from the mom when I got them.

Spay and neutering your pet not only saves lives but they will live a longer and healthier life when they are sterilized.

What a great thing you do! I had a cat who did a similar thing and it was the dog who was her object of affection. She did finally grow out of it, much to the dog's relief. I would try finding wooly/cashmere sweater (perhaps one that is moth eaten) and wear it over your clothes for a couple of days. If the kitten nurses that then you could try to use the sweater as a sort of burp cloth while you're holding the cat. I might also try a little catnip to settle him down - it helps a lot with anxiety. Good luck.

You'll have to 'wean' the kitten. He's still young enough to want to nurse.

A couple of decades ago, there was a cat I had who got stuck up a tree for several hours. He was pretty badly traumatized when he got back down and started 'nursing' on my fingers. I let him for a while until he was truly reassured that he was all right, then 'weaned' him again.

this would be a uncomplicated cat habit. My cats all do it. now and back it is led to via early seperation from mom, yet no longer continuously--considered one of my cats became into along with his mom until eventually he became into 6months previous and he nevertheless does this! he's 6 now. yet another cat might nurse the bathing room rug and made smacking/slurping noises as though she have been relatively eating! That became into humorous, yet we had to circulate the rug considering we did no longer choose her to get any chemical components that would have dripped on it from cleansing the bathroom/tub... Your cat would or would possibly no longer strengthen out of this kneeding habit. that's a manner of bonding with you. i do no longer understand in case you may relatively attempt to suggestions-blowing it, possibly basically wait and see in the event that they strengthen out of it on their very very own, and save their nails nicely trimmed until eventually then! If it relatively bothers you that plenty, you could try puhing them off of you and saying "No" firmly every time they do it. Then they're going to study that kneeding in straightforward terms stops and interest they have been receiving. terrific desires!

your the kittens mommy.
kitten will outgrow.
my friend got two cats.siblings...
the smaller one...the polydactyl dispalyed nursing behaviour with sis.
it tapered off.
You can't really train cats and you sure don't want to utilize any negative reinforcement.
Youwill hurt the kittens feelings:)
I love cats....

That's sweet...I used to have a cat that licked my earlobe. Let it "nurse", if not on your clothing, then something else. I think they do this because they feel close to you (like their Mommy). It comforts them.
