my dog cut his paw on a rosebush the other day, but he keeps removing the bandage. i don't want him to get infected, but i can't think of any other way other than wrapping a bandage around his paw (bleeding on the carpet and furniture is also bad). any ideas? ps- tried putting hot sauce on the bandage, he liked it...

make sure you clean the area thoroughly, make sure there are no foreign objects in the wound and wrap with gauze, you can put a sock over it as well or an ace bandage to hold the gauze in place...
the only thing i would recommend is getting a cone from the vet to put around his neck so that he cannot reach the problem area! Keep it wrapped until it stops bleeding then remove the wrap (but leave the cone on so he doesn't mess with it) after bleeding has subsided so that the wound can get some oxygen... after the wound looks pretty healed, take off the cone so that he can run around and do things like he normally did without bumping into everything!!!
and, do NOT put any antibiotic ointment on the wound! this WILL bring more attention to it and they will mess with it more!
good luck and hope all goes well
and do NOT glue it like someone else said!!! this will bring more irritation and more than likely unnecessary infection!!!

My dog had cut her paw on piece of glass, What we did was put peroxide on it like 2 to 3 times a day. Your dog will chew the bandage off, they clean it themselves. When your's around him, put antibacterial ointment on the cut and wrap it in that self adhesive tan colored wrap. Make sure you do it in a way where he can walk normal, you might need to get an elizabethan collar.

first you need to make sure his paw is not already infected so I recommend taking him to your veterinarian. If it is not infected he probably won't prescribe antibiotics but will clean out the wound and wrap it for you. He will also suggest an Elizbethian Collar. Your vet will give you instructions on using the collar because with the collar on, your pet will not be able to eat. He will more than likely ask you to bring in your pet for a follow up. Good luck and I hope the little man is ok!

Bitter Apple spray definately will do the trick, but be careful when you put it on, it may sting. My dog had his nails clipped the other day and one bled a little, and we put the Bitter Apple on it, and once it was there he quit licking instantly. I think it stung a little bit when I put it on (he jerked his paw away), but it was only for a second that it bothered him.

You could also try putting a sock on his leg and securing it so it wont come off, that way he can't get to the injury. We've done that with my dog as well.

Try something like Grannick's bitter apple spray. You can get it at Petsmart or Petsmart.com. You can use it with or without a bandage. Hope it helps!

Yeah i would wrap it, and then put like a sock or something over it and if he still digs at it tell him "no" in a stern voice, and award him with treats.

You need to get him one of those cone collars that will keep him from chewing on any parts of his body.
