"Vagina" is a Greek word meaning "Sheath of a Sword". What it actually is, physically, is where a man puts his penis during intercourse. When he ejaculates sperm, they are able to swim through the vagina through the help of semen, which is there to lubricate and protect them from the vagina's acidic ph. Without it, they would die on contact, because they are alcaline. They are then able to penetrate the cervix, which is the end of the vagina, and enter the uterus, where, if ovulation has taken place, one sperm is able to fertilize an egg and make a blastocyst. A blastocyst is the first level of cell division, which eventually becomes a baby.Then, after pregnancy has occurred the vagina becomes the "Birth Canal", a muscle that can expand and contract, or the gateway from which a fetus makes it's way into the world, and finally becomes an individual person.
