No, think about it like this: Would it change your intentions if you knew beforehand you weren't going to be thanked for it? NO...you should do whatever it is because it's the right thing to do, regardless if the person you're doing it for is forgetful or just rude. Be a good person.

If you carry with you any level of expectations from those around you, you are bound to be met with dissappointment. It doesn't create a very healthy situation for you or anyone else... so in the words of Vince Vega, "Just be cool.".

P.S. Kudos to BLULINR! This too is a great answer.

It is always nice to be appreciated for anything you have done that was unrequired; that said, at the end of the day, the point is you offered your help because you thought it was warranted, not because you expected a thank you.

Sometimes I do get a little aggrieved that people do not wish to offer a "please" or "thank you", but whenever I have helped someone out, I ALWAYS come away with a good feeling inside. If they've said "please" or "thank you", it only adds to the feeling, but if they don't - it doesn't diminish it.

you should not care. help is offered freely. if you are expecting a reward in any way at all, you did not offer to help another, you were looking for a pat on the back, which would have been to your benefit, and not theirs.

I help people often. I assume that it will go with little mention. But when they show appreciation it feels better, like I won something. Its a big world and we are tiny cogs, savor the appreciation, but don't expect it. If you lower your expectations of people they will disappoint you a little bit less often.

No,you shouldn't.What you should do is get used to people that aren't very polite or gratefull. You shouldn't care that much.I mean,if you can influence on some people around you to act more polite,do that. But,for strangers, don't even think about it.Enjoy!

No, when you do something for someone don't do it cause you want the thanks. I always say, how can I expect anyne to help me if I dont help anyone else. If people don't say thank you i just shrug it off and go on. Too many times people have helped me and I am thakful to them all!!

I like it when people say please and thank you. I, however, do not loose my cool if they don't. Many people weren't raised to do this so they have never learned. I am teaching my children to do this.

No, you shouldn't lose your cool. You should do it out of the goodness of your own heart.
