wow, i havent seen a adjustment take this long before... She sees herself as the alpha in the home. You overstepped your boundaries by bringing another animal in the home (in her view) She may have smelled the cat on you before she even saw the other cat and now sees you as the bad guy. She is playing with the kitten because she is making sure it realizes that she is still the alpha animal and the kitten is learning its place... you may not be however. The way you might mend your relationship with your older cat sooner is not play with the kitten for a while, keep the kitten sent off of you... Then make more of a fuss over the older cat... more treats more play time... let her walk all over you... actually i mean that... if she stands on your chest you are in a submissive position and she will feel she is in charge again... once she has establish the hireachy with the other cat then you may be able to interact with both cats the same... Animal are jealous just like people. even more so... Her upset nature will fade over time... quicker if you do what i suggest.
good luck

Yes she is still hurt. If you get rid of the kitten she'll eventually come back to you, but she'll miss the kitten. My cat got very close to a new kitten although she protested loudly in the beginning. She washed it and followed it around. She wanted nothing to do with humans though! She was like yours. A cat's cat.
We had to put the kitten down because she was diseased (we obviously didn't know that when we got her.) Our older cat looked for her and missed her for a week or so, and then she turned into a more affectionate cat than before the kitten came. She adores us. No guarantees with cats though. They really have their quirks.
She was upset that we abandoned her for a two week holiday last summer, although she had proper care and lots of food...
When we came home our whole house smelled of cat urine. She still has the problem - but after a year she is actually getting over it. Others would not put up with this......but I am a housecleaning idiot.

She's not your baby anymore. I had the same problem when I got a second cat, her personality changed and never went back. I ended up having to give up the second cat after 2 years and the original cat went back to being who she was prior to getting the new cat?¿? It was weird, so I don't know if you will ever be able to have both and the first one go back to being how she was. Good luck to you. Just give her lots of love and attention maybe that will help.

Time will heal her. My oldest cat hated when I got a new kitten and he was mad at me. It took a long time but they like each other and me. I think was seriously a year to get back to normal. My oldest cat holds grudges though. Then I got another kitten when my second cat was about a year old and then my oldest cat didn't care but my middle cat was mad. Now they all live together fine! TIME TIME TIME!

That's a hard one. I got my kittens at the same time to avoid having that situation happen. I guess all you can really do is keep trying, keep paying attention to her and hope she comes around. Depending on how old she is, it may take awhile to adjust to not being the only cat anymore.

lol i think cats are so sweet and i had a similar situation just keep loving her and she will come around. try holding both of them on your lap but don't force the situation...just a little bit at a time and take time to hold her and love her just like she's still your little baby...the main thing is if she learns to love the new kitten and she probably will...just give it time

The old cat will have to make up her own mind to come around. Don't pressure her in the meanwhile.
Good luck!

You can't. Your cat will have to come around on her own. Cats are just like girls, give them time and they will get over it.

Maybe she thinks the kitten will somehow replace her. Let her know this isn't true.
