Why can't non-Christians see that all human beings have a congenital predisposition to be selfish and to treat their fellow man poorly? To put it briefly, we are hardwired to sin. Look at the world around you - why is there so much misery and pain and evil? Because humans do horrific things to each other. And you and I are just like the rest.
Anyone who thinks of himself as a "good" person is deceiving himself. Who has not spoken hatefully to another person or let down a friend or gave into a private temptation? Don't allow yourself to be duped - even those who appear to be "good" on the outside are just as much in need of salvation as those who are outwardly evil.
Consider the words of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount:
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)

The reason that "doing good" isn't enough is that the Scripture says, "FAITH without works is dead." You can have great works, but without faith in God, you still bear the sin-curse that you were born with. It's one thing to overcome oneself and "mortify the deeds of the flesh" as the Scripture teaches, but if you don't follow up on God's salvation plan and obey it, you're still lost. Morality can still be influenced by sin too easily. When salvation is applied, it becomes more difficult. God has to be at the forefront of everything we do.

Why can't you people understand that all the good deeds and morals in the world will not get you into Heaven without salvation. That is our main concern, Salvation and asking forgivness for your sins. Faith and Grace are the only things that will get you to heaven. After you have been saved, then all your good deeds (if you do them and give God the glory) your treasures are stored in Heaven for you until you come to claim them.

Not sure who said this, but some atheist was debating a Christian on TV one time, and an important point was raised, that the atheist drove straight home... (And this is paraphrasing, btw)
Christian : "As an atheist, you have no moral backing. Without religion, what's to stop you, or any other atheist, from getting angry, jumping across the table, and murdering me right now?"
Atheist : "Uhm... wow... now that you mention it... I'm not so sure I really want you to give up your religion..."

Why don't you understand there are rules? Even in the secular world a DEVOUT FAN of Sports (not to mention professional athletes) would be horrified at someone changing the Rule books to kindergarten level.
The Bible is NOT a play toy that men can change the rules of to make it easy because they just do not like the rules.
Walk up to a devout Sports Fan (one who risks his own marriage to watch sports at all costs) and tell him you want to change the rules so everyone can play. If he don't pound your head - he will tell you straight out, It ruins the purity of it.
Unlike worldly sports - while the one is held in high regard - God's Word is much more important and enduring. We are talking Immortality (Through Christ Jesus) -verses- Mortality (the ways of the world through the world).

Because that wouldn't fit in with the delusion of their fantasy world so then they would have to confront the fact that all the incessant obsession with the bible was a complete waste of time. So they prefer to live a fairy tale by pretending that anyone who hasn't swallowed the nonsense they believe in can't be moral. Laughable and absurd, but that's what they believe.

I don't care if you believe this or not, but here is the truth, which everyone will soon have the chance to hear: In- order for you to go to heaven you need to follow the death, burial, Resurrection plan of salvation. That means that you need to first repent(confess your sins to God, and ask for forgiveness), be baptized in Jesus' name for the remission of your sins, and then you need to receive the gift of The Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. If you would like to hear more about this talk to any Pentecostal person.

Well, you are probably generalizing with your question, but I would say that many people are raised to believe in one way and to think that the Bible is the ultimate form of truth. Possibly some see non-Christians as lost, no matter if they are acting as good or bad people.

The Christian holy writings dont believe in "good" outside their beliefs. You could be the best of men and go straight to hell if you didnt believe.

Nobody can be completely good or moral throughout their life. God will not let them into heaven, and hell is the only other place to go. Jesus came to earth to be completely good and moral, and to die so you can hide your sins behind Him and get into Heaven.
