Who ever does the asking should do the buying. My friends and I pay for each other all the time. If you're out with someone you know never picks up the bill, then go dutch.

In my opinion, even if you're not on a date, you are obliged to pay for a girl's night even if you are not on a date. Its only polite of you to do so. And gentlemanly.

Even if you pay, you won't have anything to lose right? She'll see you as a gentleman. Now thats a plus point.

I have a few male friends who still insist on paying my way even though we are not dating. I always offer to pay my share or the whole bill at time ... but have yet been allowed to do that. It should never be expected that a male pay the bill just because he is a man ... always offer to pay your own way, and be gracious if he offers.

Would I expect my best girl friend to pay for my drinks at a bar? No way - what obligation does she have to pay for me?!? None! It would be no different out w/ a guy who I wasn't dating.

I think that would be ignorant, of a girl, to think the guy is responsible if it isn't even a Date.!

If there is a group going out, it is every person for them self. If you asked her to go somewhere, that is a date & you pay. If she asked you to go someone, it depends if you want to date her. If you do, pay - if not do not pay. Chilvary is not dead but it is defintely taking a nap.

Absolutely not! If it's a date, sure, but just hanging out, I'll cover the whole check or at least my half.

No, but it is a nice gesture, especially if he would want a date in the future ;-)
