If she loves being around other dogs, is that in your home? It may make a difference. Are you well established as the alpha?

Not sure, I have a Shih Tzu myself, and he doesn't like big dogs. He thinks he is bigger than they are and he tries to bark at them all the time on walks. =) Maybe if you are there every day with them at first until they get to know each other, that would be fine. Only you know your dog's temperment. Also, make sure you show your pit bull the same love and affection you do whenever you get a Shih Tzu....i'd be worried about the new dog...i've heard some horror stories about pit bulls and other dogs. Be careful.

As long as the Shih Tzu does not try to dominate the Pit bull, I do not see why there would be a problem. Just make sure both have proper training.

maybe, my dad was gonna get the shih tzu first, then after awhile, get the pit bull, the pit would respect the shih tzu!
but in your case, yes because my friend had a tough dog then got a shih tzu, they play all the time, the shih tzu is still kid friendly also!

No....not really because pit bulls are energetic and Shih Tzus are more show dogs and they really don't get long with other dogs. And Shih Tzus have all that care.....stick to another energetic dog.

Shih Tzu's are very laid back dogs. I think it would work considering your pit is pretty accepting of other dogs. Introducing them at a young age is a great idea as well. They'll grow up as buds.

pit bulls are very dominant so you would have to be careful. with the pit being only 7 months old, then you should be able to socialize them together. i have a 10 month old male and a 11 week old female, they get along great, but are different genders. good luck

Well getting two female dogs can be bad because they are just starting to get to know you and might start getting aggressive around each other. As Dog Fancy said, " Get one dog at a time ".
I would say to wait until your new puppy is at least 1 to get another dog. Unless you are in a hurry to get another. Then wait until your puppy has lived in the house for about a couple months (6-7 to be exact).

Yes...my friends parents breed Shuh tzu's and they have lived with two dogs that are over 100lbs there is no problem....I will tell you though that Shih tzu have been bred for human companionship only, she may not play much with your pitty or even take much interest in her compared to you.

Of course! Introduce the dogs slowly and watch them very close the first few days. They will be fine. If either dog ever growls or nips at the other punish the bad dog right away and they will quickly learn. They will soon love each other.

We have a Shih Tzu male - very dominating - took us a while to figure him out - he growls a lot - but we found he growls were just his way of talking to us. I would be careful.
Good luck.
