Agnostic.. Not in favor of labels.
Labels dictate
People blinded by the images and confinements the labels represented, unable to see a person's gifting, talents and abilities. Many don't see pass a label. It's similar to placing a person in a sealed box, maintaining their condition, but with no hope of release from their circumstances and no hope for relationships outside. Just another one-way charitable cause. It is the power of the label that can keep a person in a state of mourning and hopelessness.
Labels are society's attempt to help describe the human condition focusing more on our limitations and then categorizing those limitations into what is and isn't normal. But this system which is designed to seek ways to help some people and enlighten others, has become a system used to alienate and segregate our communities.Unfortunately, people have been influenced and have allowed the invasion of this man-made system of identification into this world. Then without realizing, we have allowed these labels to determine who we can invite, or who we think can understand, or who would "fit in". These labels are powerful barriers and they do not belong in the world.
We cannot forget that our identity is based on who we are not on what we can or cannot do. The human condition is the same regardless of ones circumstances in life.

No! These are human labels and often create a great degree of divisiveness.
Jesus was a Jewsh rabbi, who taught the people the Talmud, 2000 years ago. This was a time when the teachings in the Temple were off course due to corrupt officials and priests who had been given their positions by the Romans. They had to obey the Romans or face death. The true leaders and priests had been assassinated by the Romans.
Since many had been misled, Jesus came to give the people the true teachings of God as presented in the Jewish scriptures. It was no accident that he preached in the countryside rather than near the Temple, a rather dangerous place.
I don't believe that Jesus came to begin a new religion. He came to clean up and clarify the true teachings of Judaism, during a time of severe persecution.
Christianity changed a lot when it moved from the Middle East to Rome and other parts of Europe. It took on the trappings of the Roman culture, and had little resemblance to the simplicity of Jesus" teachings.
Jesus asked that we believe in the teachings of God. He was not on an ego trip, pumping up Himself, but leading people to God.

He has been dead for a long time so I doubt if he cares anything about what you call yourself. Most likely he didn't even know the word christian. There were not any then. They say he was born a Jew so why aren't Christians also Jews. No Jew is not a race. When will it ever be that people really understand that religion is nothing more than a way to control the masses created by a few for that purpose.

I think that Jesus only cares that you live your life according to God's laws and that you believe he (Jesus) gave his life for our salvation. Being a "Christian" means different things to different churches, many religions call themselves "Christian" but perceive the message in the bible slightly differently than others, being a Christian means your are a believer and follower of Christ - a lot of religions claim to be....though their actions speak different. Just believe that God loves you and knows that you're doing the best you can to live a good, honest life.

I don't care
what label you may wear
cuz if you belong to jesus,
you belong with me
i do not care if youre baptist, methodist, presbytirian or pentacostal.
Jesus is the same sweet Jesus, no matter what.
Christian means 'christ-like'
so why in the world would jesus want his followers to reject that name?
Any denomination that believes in JEsus is, as far as i'm concerned, purty much Christian.

I think he is asking do Christians believe that you have to believe in Jesus and label yourself a Christian in order to be 'saved'. I think it's a valid question . . .

Jesus expects us to believe in Him. That is why He went to the Cross, to save anyone who believe in him from our sins. He even made three converts. One, a black man who helped him carry the cross, The thief on the tree who asked Jesus to pray for him, and a Roman soldier who said Truly we have killed a (I can't think of the title he gave Jesus, but look it up. It's in the Book). And Jesus told the Apostles, the only way to the Father is by me.

yes it is human intervention. I seem to remember ready someplace in the bible Jesus talking about not going to church also. The book and message are often twisted and bent to people personal will . I can't tell you how many time I have heard people say thing like " I don't believe in that part of the bible".

Jesus didn't even ask to be made into a God. That was the invention of superstitious humans.

I don't think the label matters at all as long as you believe.
