Sure. There was an experiment done in the 18th century. A small child was placed in a cell in a tower. The child was given food and drink, kept clean but no form of love from a caring person. The child died.

I've never really thought about this until now. I don't think an adult could die from lack of love, but it sure makes you want to sometimes. It does lead to depression and there is help out there for people who are depressed. It may take some time, but seek help. If the first attempt doesn't work, try another. You can feel better. In the mean time, get a pet. Dogs work best for me. It's a personal choice, but they love you no matter what you look like, how much money you make, etc....Best of luck to you.

Well they did that study back in the 40's with babies that were feed and changed and given no other physical contact, cuddling, holding etc. The babies that didn't get 'love' all died. So yes you can die from lack od love. The good thing is love comes in mnay different forms what didn't the Greeks have eight words for love? Romantic love is great but you can live without it for a time, get involved with friends, make new ones join a class or group that has similiar interests as you do. Chat with folks anywhere you are strike up conversations never know who'll you'll meet or enjoy. Call your mom, or Dad or great Aunt Sue. Go to church or a yoga\ meditation class. Get a pet cat or dog. Create the person you want to be really get to know yourself and I bet you'll find the one you want to love.

People can become extremely loney and suffer from depression because of it, but death? I mean, outside of taking ones own life. I know there was some research done a while back where they took baby monkeys and placed two of them in different rooms. In one room the little guy was held, talked to, and well, shown love. In the other, the monkey had very minimal contact, just feeding, changing, and there was no talking to the baby monkey. (I hate these kinds of tests) anyway, like I said I read about this. But, the baby monkey who was emotionally neglected wasted away to near death. He stopped eating, and exibited signs of extreme depression. Keep in mind this is a baby monkey. Monkey mothers are full blown hands on creatures......clearly this little guy was dying from lack of attention and possibly physical contant. Anyway, they didn't allow the baby to die, they realized in the testing that indeed without intervention he surely would have. He was then immediately held and loved, stroked and fed, talked to and even sang too. Both animals thrived after that. Love comes in many shapes and forms, the love you have for a family member, the way your girlfriend/boyfriend makes you feel. Still, even "one sided" love is an expression of love and has an effect on us as people. In other words, it's not just in the receiving the love and attention that nourishes ones soul, but it's how much we give out too. It doesn't matter if that attention goes to Mom and Dad, your mate, or even your pet Fido. (which by the way....has been recognized as unconditional love......a pets love.) So, unless one is just completely isolated from all things....art, music, animals and others...etc. I'm afraid it may turn out to become extreme loneliness that will likely not result in ones demise. Painful though, all the same.

Yes. Experiments were done with babies who were not picked up or shown any human contact or affection whatsoever. They were fed by mechanical means. The suffered in all aspects of development and socialization. The experiments were supposedly cut short of actual death, but who knows if that's the actual truth?
I've seen programs where abandoned babies in China and Russian are put in warehouses and pretty much left to die because there isn't enough help or resources to care for them.
I've also seen the elderly actually giving up the will to live because no one is there for them. They don't see any reason to go on. If someone gave them even a small part of their time, or listened to them for a few minutes every day it would make a huge difference, but no one loves them enough to bother.
So yes, people can die from lack of love.

Psychological disorders of childhood are linked to many cases of lack of “love” when no other health issues are apparent.
The famous Harlow& Zimmerman study, 1958 showed that the monkeys who had been deprived of the chance to interact with other responsive monkey and develop relationships/love early in their lives had trouble forming normal social and sexual relationships and some even died.
A study at the John Hoskins Hospital showed despite good care physically that 90% of the infants admitted to orphanages in Baltimore in 1915 died within their first year in the home away from natural parents when no other health issue could be found. (Bowlby, 1969)
You can find articles in the search venues that give illstration of such serious issue...from babies to older couples who die within days of each other due of lonies or lack of feeling loved
Yes someone can die from the lack of Love

Sorry, you feel there is a lack of love in your life, but you just need to find someone who is very caring, & maybe these feeling will go away. No, I don't think you'll die over it, but you may feel like it at times. Hang in there, things have a way of working, themselv'es out.

Many things die from no love. As you age, the world can break your heart. Heart-break will also kill you. If you are speaking of yourself, you must give love to get love. Do not sit and wait for life to come to you. Get out and live life. As for those poor creatures who are starved for love. Shed a tear for them and love them in heaven. There they are and shall be. Life hurts. Longer life hurts longer. If nothing bad ever happened, you did nothing or lied to yourself. Death becomes a blessing.

I think so. When we feel unloved or unappreciated, it takes a great physical toll, especially on our immune systems!!
An experiment was done which proved that an act of kindness brings a myriad of health benefits and boosts to the immune system of the person doing the kind act, the beneficiary of the act and anyone observing an act of kindness!!!!
So l think we can say that kindness and love improve your health and conversly, lack of kindness and love ruin your health, which will eventually lead to death.
