Well is your cat pooping in the same room as the kitty pan? If he is doing this outside the room, like in your bedroom then maybe you are away to much. Maybe he is not getting enough attention. They have feeling and know how to get your attention by making a mess where your body smell is. I have experienced this many times with my cat over the years. Or maybe the room your litter box is in is to small or dark. It the box a good size? Some cat litter is to smelly - try just plain old scoopable cat litter (but you have to scoop at leest avery 2 days) They very much like it private as well. Good luck hope this helps you.
I had to give up my 2 cats one was 12 and the other 7 because my son had alergies. It was a sad day. I miss them very much even if they did poop on the carpet now and then.

what ever you do dont show him the spot where he went on the carpet because that just shows him that it is o.k to go there.evertime after he eats or once or twice every hour put him in the litter box for like five minutes if he goes give him a special treat (some kind of meat) and praise him alot and keep doing that. that is how we got my cat to stop going on the carpet or maybe you should take your cat to the vet maybe somthing is wrong.Good luck

he might be telling you hes upset about something. Our kitty litters were in the same spot since my moved in like 7 months ago and everything is fine til i go away to my friends. They start pooping and peeing on my bed, So we moved the boxes out to the kitchen where they can get a clear path to it since the old spot isnt a clear path but they can still get to it. They havnt gone on my bed yet but i havnt gone away yet either. Lets hope i was right around the little spot and wrong about them getting mad when i go away... my advice, try a different spot with the litter where he can get to it easier, might do the trick

Does he keep pooping in the same spot? Try getting a second litter box and place it where he poops. My cats started to do that and a second one helped a lot. Also, have you gotten a new pet? My cats also started to act up when I brought home my dog.

There should be a litter tray for each cat and one extra, so if you have one cat there should be two litter trays. Perhaps he had taken exception to the spot, if so moving it might result in him starting to use it again. A corner spot with plenty of cover makes cats feel safe and more likely to use it. Hope this helps.

I've heard in the past that not going in the litter box can be a sign that something medically wrong. I would call a vet and see what he says. Good luck

it could be just becuase somethigns changed that he doesn't like. cats use a lot of association so something could have happen whilst he was in the area of the box. or if he felt he was lacking attention, felt unwell, sulking etc etc, he could have changed and doesn't feel like going back! my cat goes in the bath when ever i go away and leave him, regardless of who's staying to look after him! if he always goes in the same spot try washing the area with lemon juice. They hate citrus!

cats do this when their litter box hasn't been cleaned or is just smelling and doesn't have clean litter. My female cat does that everytime I forget to scoop out her poo from the litter box.
