My husband is an Army corrections specialist. what did the recruiter tell you? alot of what they say isnt true. your shifts change all the time, its supposed to be every 3 months but it noramlly never happens that way. you do 12 hour shifts for about 10 days every couple of weeks, you dont get holidays off, you have to choose christmas or new years. you do alot of sitting around at work. i have heard this mos only sucks if ur on the post im on, but even if thats true, they are supposed to be moving everyone in this mos here because they are closing other prisons. if you want something easy and u dont really want to make a career out of the army, this is a good mos but if ur intereested in something else, look into that too.

I would say they were military police officers. No job in the Army is easy. If you want an easy job, don't join the military. It's for people with ambition.

They are trained to guard and care for:

1) US military personnel convicted of crimes
2) Enemy Prisoners of war
3) Refugees/displaced persons

The operations at Gitmo have turned these people into experts in controlling 'high risk' prisoners (people willing to die if they can also kill a guard).
