Because you have two eyes, you actually are constantly processing two slightly different images in your brain. This gives you depth perception, an ability to judge how far away the thing you're looking at is. Try using only one eye for a day. You will find it harder to pick things up etc. because it will be harder to tell exactly where they are.

If we had only one eye, we would not be able to properly guage depth. Not that this is a bad thing--many mammals, including deer, rabbits, antelope etc. have zero depth perception and they get along fine. (The reason they dont is because their eyes are on the side of their head--they have a much wider range of vision).
Another reason we have two eyes is that we are symmetrical--one side of our body mirrors the other.

armor,
The reason you have two eyes, is because it is impossible to determing depth or distance with only one. Your brain measures the angle of the line of vision of your eyes, and calculates the approximate distance for your. Also, it is really hard to get a date, when you have only one eye in the middle of your head.

I guess you'll have to talk to God about that. I think that when He created us, He wasn't thinking in terms of contact lenses.

Probably not. I would design it in such a way that you would have to pay for the same price. And the next time you feel like complaining, think of Cyclops.
