How can I enter Safe Mode at Windows XP boot up?

I've tried hitting F8 but nothing happens..

You must completly TURN off the computer. wait about 10 seconds.

Now, turn it on, right away start hitting the "F8" key. this should bring the pc to the options.


Sometimes there are BIOS that just boot up real fast, so you have about a 1 second to hit "F8".

F8 key gives you the option to go into safe mode. You should first try holding down the F8 button when you computer first starts booting up. If your computer makes a beeping noise, it assumes that your key is stuck and it gives you an error. If this happens, restart your computer and keep pressing the F8 key repeatedly until safe mode comes up. Edit: Additional Information. Try the above first, but if it doesn't work do this. Start your computer, wait until it gets to the first loading screen for windows. Turn the power to your computer off (might have to hold the power down until it turns off) and it should come up saying that windows didn't load properly, would you like to enter safe mode? It depends on what computer you have, but most of the time its when you hit F8. You need to do it RIGHT BEFORE the Windows Login appears.
