I was unable to become a soldier, because a waiver I needed wasn't approved.
I'll still answer your question though!

I've always wanted an exciting job, one were I could help others. I do love fighting and strategy, and I do love working as part of a team.

I think what I would like better about being a Soldier is that it wouldn't be a predictable job.
I love change, and I love being able to learn more to adjust to new circumstances.

Yes, I do consider being a soldier just another job. Another GREAT job, that is! And no, by that I am not trying to make it seem like being a soldier is easy, I'm trying to say that you need to have the personality for it, just like you do with any other job. Being a office assistant can be the worst job out there if it is not fitting.

... I haven't read the answers to your question, but I hope no one has chosen choice B... That's just wrong.

I love all the values the Army has, and wish to live in a community that goes by them, even though I've heard most soldiers don't even have those values... One soldier can make a difference though, am I correct?

Grr, I still want to join so badly...

Your choices need some adjustment. No soldier joins the military to murder people. Any person who has an attitude you describe in option A is not material desired by the Armed Forces.

But since you asked, I joined because I feel a patriotic duty to give back what I see as the best way of life on our planet. To uphold freedom and defend this country so that the rest of our citizens can enjoy the same freedoms we, as Americans, have had for the past 230 years.

I have a family tradition that has proudly served for the last 6 generations and I am proud to continue that legacy. Yes it is a job and it provides for my family, but more than that, once you take a look around, [in person-not what you see on the televising], you will see that we have it really good here and the oppression and fear that other parts of the world face daily do not exist in our country. If you are not a member of this group to serve, you have no real idea what I am saying. I hope that you get a chance to look around and see what is so great about this country and how important it is to protect it.

God bless our United States Service Members and God Bless America!

I became a soldier to defend the Constitution and to give back to my country what it had given to me. If you never served in the military you would'nt understand but not all are made out to become service men and women. In short be thankful for the few Americans that do serve this country in the military.

C
D

E

You see i am a firm believer that EVERYONE from the age of 18 to 25 should HAVE to do 1 term in the service.

That way they know what a SOLDIER Does and maybe get some respect for them.

But hey that is just my opinion:)

1.) Steep family tradition (8 of 9 generations here in the U.S going back to the Revolutionary War).

2.) I wanted to get out of NW Ohio (who wouldn't?)

3.) The education benefits are awesome

4.) Travel the world (I was in the navy)

5.) Living Kennedy's speech ("Ask not what your country can do for you...")

Those were my reasons...

Soldiers do not fight because we hate what is in front of us, we fight because we love what is behind us.

Current situation: Iraq. The "Insurgents" are really Al-Qaeda, not Iraqi citizens. Al-Qaeda do not have borders or a country, they are a religious based group free to roam and travel and kill in teh name of Allah.

Al-Qaeda wants one thing. The annihalation of all non "true" muslims. This will be accomplished through alliances (such as Hezbollah) and will require the utter destruction and extermination of Isreal and America to start it's path to success. If we Soldiers keep them occupied in Iraq, they won't be in Smalltown, USA with their IEDs.

C and E are the reasons you typically find among most real soldiers.

Of course from the fact you even put choices A and B indicates how little you understand people in general and soldiers in particular.
