It sounds like technical jargon pertaining to whatever this specific machine is. However, I imagine it has something to do with trying to excluse the diameter of...whatever it's the diameter of (an aperture, perhaps) in order to measure whatever they're trying to measure.

In other words, if I were to weigh a jar of liquid, I would want to excluse the weight of the jar so that I can get an accurate measurement. Therefore, it might be wise to have a machine which calculates weight based on the increase in weight MINUS the weight of the jar itself. In this case, the weight of the jar would be the zeropoint for said weight machine. I think the use of the word 'zeropoint' in the above sentence is used similarly.
