Falconson5000. Our streets are full of crime, what are you talking about??? Policing needs a good shake up and all the dead wood should be thrown out on the streets with the vermin they are allowing to get away with murder. During the past 3 years I have been mugged and seriously assaulted, burgled (where I caught the culprit in my kitchen) and had my car broken into twice. I'm still waiting for the police to come and take statements. However, I was doing 44 on a dual carriageway (wrong I know) they wasted no time in contacting the DVLA and sending me a fine plus a penalty of 3 points.

What's a joke is all the mamby-pamby lawyers that get their guilty-as-sin clients off on a technicality or some other wimpy reason. ("Oh...he was spanked as a child and can't help himself." or some other just as lame excuse.) which ties the hands of law enforcement. Not only for what can be done but because criminals know they can probably get away with whatever crime they want to do.
Also, what you people DON'T see is the numerous calls from the same people over and over who can't/won't control their children or decided to drink and fight with their family members ... which ties the officers up and keeps them from being able to be where they're truly needed.

Yes, there's corrupt officers...just like there is in any other field. Just check out the government...that place is 99% corrupt. =P But on the whole, there's a bunch of good guys/gals out there that don't deserve this. Be thankful most of your police forces AREN'T corrupt.

It is just a job to them ,hitting targets is all that matters. If they arrested two people one nice lad who is just caught up in some **** and another lad who is in the crime game who told good lies when caught they would just nick the inocent lad cause it is easier to get a coviction! No morale standings any more! My brother got put away for cutting some one (not nice) but that 23 year old he cut beat my cousin into hospital for 6/7 weeks (who was 15 at the time, because he did n't pull that night and he got nothing not even a day in the cells,What my brother done was wrong but it was also wrong what happened to my cousin and we waited for the police to deal with it, they keeped say well at least he will be ok!(yeah just scared to go out of the house for a year.cause you have done nothing). No justice was evry brought by the coppers so my brother took it in to his own hands after a year! a year! the lad beat a boy up!
They just want an easy life no trouble(that is what your paid for)

i completly agree with you. i passed 4 police the other day who was standing around on a corner street 2 men and 2 women just talking with nothing else better to do. ok..they have a right to socialise with them selfs because they got to work together. but there respect for citizens these days are shi7. they respect no one. its like now they all have there own little way to deal with the public and even take things into there own hands. even though the law says different. i mean theres more people getting killed innocently in todays world because of police blunder. but some how they al;ways seem to cover there butts. and if you had a burglary/robbery itll take them 3 days before they get to you. just for an interview. and no culprit could ever be found. so you have my vote here.

It depends on where you live.

Police do their jobs, and then some, it seems around here. They looove speeding tickets and pulling people over for no reason.

I am a girl, and I have been searched by a male police officer. That isn't right at all, but I've tried to do somethign about it for a long time.. Nothing done. I was searched for no reason as well. My car is very messy and he claimed to have seen a "pill bottle" come to find out it was a tin of gum he saw then he said because I have incense in my car that was probable cause for marijuanna posession.

Ugh.

But I still think we need them. After all, they're trained to defend us.

two things, there should be no need for police, we are all accountable for each others actions. Secondly, the police in Britain are a damn-cite better than most other countries in the world. They are a civil service, developed for the good of the people rather than the good of the military dictatorship, from my experience in other countries foreign police forces have a decadent ego that pushes them into power trips and egomania. The british police force is one of the least corrupt also (well overtly corrupt at least!)

If it wasn't for the police our streets would be filled with crime, and it would be chaos. The only problem with the Police force is the Bureaucracy in other words, Police spend too much time filling in forms and doing paper work opposed to catching criminals.

Chatting it up with witnesses? Listen, cops are human too, and sometimes you have to talk to witnesses to calm them down and get the story out, Their doing their a job, give them a break. What, are they supposed to be robots all the time and read from the book? Damn you.

of course they're a joke mate, they're there for mocking. you only have to watch The Bill, have you seen them run.... fall off my chair laughing.
i think the main qualifications to get into the force now are:
1. you have to use the finest of hair gels
2. females have to be blonde
3. males have to be ignorant and ugly
4. both sexes must have an IQ below their shoe size
