Its called dander, and every dog has it! It does not hurt the dog, its just itchy like regular human dandruff.

If you are bathing him alot, then this could be the problem. Some dogs have dandruff when they are bathed more than once per month. I bathe my dogs about once a week because they like to run around in the mud. They tend to have dry skin because of this but its better than mud on my white carpets. You may want to switch to a different shampoo for dry skin.

Dogs rarely have dandruff. It's normally something else entirely. In winter when a furnace is on, it could be dry skin. Best to let the vet look at it and let you know for sure. Little things can become big problems in dogs quickly. Your vet is your best route to go.

Some dogs do have dandruff naturally, but it can also be a sign of skin parasites or allergies. You can buy dog shampoo which can get rid of it, but if he's very itchy or developing bald patches I'd take him to the vet.

It is not dandruff, it is dry skin. Dogs of every age can suffer from this condition. My Vet told me to pour 1 - 2 TBS. of vegetable oil over my dog's food 2X a day and the dry skin condition will be better and it worked. Make sure your dog gets proper nutrition and that includes fat intake. If his coat is not shiny it could be a sign of poor nutrition (bad choice of dog food).

Yes - it means poor coat condition - feeding a good quality food will help (I feed my dogs Prairie - Natures Variety) because it is bio-coated with the minerals and vitamins lost during the kibble making process.
Getting essential fatty acids into the diet will help - ask your vet if they recommend a supplement - many times, you can just use a human essential fatty acid supplement - but ask.
The other product I swear by is called "MIssing Link Plus" for dogs - it has to be plus to have the glucosamine for joints - but it has the essential fatty acids...you just sprinkle some over their food - they love it and look great!!!

Yeah, dogs can have dandruff. All be it they call it Dander in pets. It is the same thing. Try giving him vitamins that have Omega3 acids in them (you can buy them at your local pet supply store, they will specify that they are for the dog's skin and coat). This should start to take effect in about a month.

They sure can if you wash them with soap. Also they can get mites which cause skin irritation and can lead to shedding bits of skin. The vet will be able to give you something to treat it. Maybe there's a dog anti-dandruff shampoo.

The flakes are skin, from scratching. It may be she has fleas, irritated skin, or her butt is dirty and she doesn't know what to do. You can go to Rite Aid or something and buy a jar with a cow print thing, on the top, and when you give your dog a bath put a latex glove on and put the stuff on it and clean it. Trust me!
