I have a dog that is about 11months old. My grandmother had him but she didn't really have time for him. He is mostly black with some white on his paws chest and neck. He weighs about 54lbs. He is and english Sheperd.

What did your Grandmother call him?
Your best bet would be to let him keep his original name, or swithch to one very similar.
If you just have to switch his name, you could consider his heritage. Modern English Shepherds are believed to have traveled with Caesar in 55 B.C.

Sirius, after the dog constellation. It's also a name in Harry Potter if you're into that, but if not, you can claim it's astronomical in nature. Pronounced Sir-ry-yus.

If you have kids let them name him. Thats always fun. 10 years ago my 2 year old names our dog Chuckwagon! the name stands today!

I think that u should name it after someone u love or something u like or even someone u admire. but sometimes its easier to just look at that dog and by how it looks or acts thats a even simpler way or just go to www.Dognames.com

Well, what was his name when your gradma had him? I think you should keep with the name, because i don't think the dog would like its name changed. I would just be confusing for the dog. You get what i'm saying?
