Hi, if you have or already seeking counseling you are on the right track, unfortunately you have to ask yourself why you are depressed? Are you lonely or maybe seeking attention? You are young , go out start enjoying yourself life is not that bad find something to take your mind off cutting yourself. Take up a hobby that you can do to keep your hands busy. I wish you all the best just remember when you cut you not only hurt yourself but those around you as they don't understand.

If you're already getting professional help, I'm not sure what you want here. If it helps any, my daughter also had this problem, and says that she just 'outgrew' it. I suspect that her walk with the Lord had something to do with it. Regardless, don't let it get to you. There is hope, and you won't always feel this way. I suggest prayer, and a real relationship with the Lord. That means finding a good, caring church. Not an easy thing to do, granted, but it is your best shot.

Maybe you are in the wrong line of study. Nobody wants a psychologically disturbed doctor, for one. For another, you don't seem to be happy. If you were enjoying your chosen career, you would not be so depressed. You need to find a career that you enjoy and makes you and others happy.

I'm glad that you're seeking treatment. Just make sure you stay in treatment until the problem is solved, though. After all, does it really make sense for someone who is unhealthy to be treating sick people?

ARE you sure you chose the right profession? I don't know you but it sounds like you don't handle pressure very well. multi-tasking probably stresses you, maybe? when you feel like cutting go do something else read, sing , or what ever. have a favorite song , if you sing your mind cannot think. so sing. train your mind in a different direction. most everything starts in what you think. so don't think

Have you done the lesson on stitching up wounds yet at your medical school? If you haven't see if you can get on that course sooner rather than later. It might be beneficial to you!
