People WANT to understand the universe and their lives in context to that larger sense of existence. And it isn't always easy.
The Universe is a big complex place which often requires serious scientific and mathematical education to even truly understand a PART of it, let alone how the whole thing hangs together.
IWe are BUILT (metaphorically speaking) to replace the blind spots in our knowledge with assumptions, beliefs and...yes...total BS...in order to make our day to day activities easier.
Sometimes, you NEED to make assumptions in order to move forward with a plan of action. The problem comes when REAL information becomes available and you ignore it in order to keep believing nonsense.
Also, the fact is that WE DIE and none of us, NO ONE, knows for sure what happens next. That's a pretty big matzah ball hanging over our daily lives. How much easier is it to just MAKE SOMETHING UP or believe in something someone else made up that comforts us.
Threaten that belief and you threaten the persons entire sense of self.
There you go.

There's a loaded question. Many people are highly religious because they need something to explain away all the awful things in life. Many others are religious because they are scared of what might happen to them after death if they aren't.
As for being saved, many Christian denominations teach that if you aren't saved by the grace of God, and accept Jesus as your savior, then you are damned to hell for all eternity.
As for religious wars, it is because everyone believes that their path is the only way to salvation. They feel they have something to prove. It's their way or the highway.

Because we all need something to believe in other than ourselves. We look around and see that man did not create the earth so there must be a supreme being or spirit that made it all there for, there is something greater than man. besides, man has a vaccum inside of himself that only God can fill.
The bible says that "I am the way the truth and the life, no man commeth unto the Father but by me. This is Jesus speaking of his father. also it says "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him might have everlasting life. also Jesus said in the bible "I am the light of the world,whoever followeth me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.
The reason for the religious wars is because those people feel that they have the only right way of truth and need to impose it on other people. Also the bible says there will be wars and rumors of wars.
Find a pastor or someone knowledgeable in the bible to better answer these questions. They are great questions and should be answered properly so that you get the full understanding of what you are seeking here.
