West of Scotland,, to see the red sun set over the sea is one of the finest views on the planet,,actually,, anywhere along the west coastline of the uk would be great now I think of it,, the only thing I didn't like about the view at Nth Wales (Colwyn bay/Old Colwyn area)was the amount of ships you could see at any given time to spoil what would otherwise have been a perfect view.

I have done a fair bit of travelling in my time, and without a shadow of a doubt the best sunset in the uk is on the lizard peninsula, cornwall. Even if you dont get to see the sun set its still a magical place to visit. An example is that when i first met my wife and done the photo thing, she asked what country were the pics taken, she didnt beleive me when i told her, crystal clear waters, whales , seals, some of the rarerist plants and animals in the whole of the uk. And enough places to stay and things to do. sorry to babble on but its nice

My parents live on the Wirral (near Hoylake, where the open is being held this week) and the sunsets there are amazing. They live right on the sea front - from their house you can see Wales in one direction and Blackpool in the other. Their living room window is like a constantly-changing work of art at sundown. Beautiful.

I'm not sure about the UK, but the best sunset I ever saw in Ireland was in Cahersiveen in County Kerry last June. Here's my photo of it... http://www.ferryview-cahersiveen.com/indexpics/PIC2F.jpg
