I adopted a cocker spaniel mix puppy from the shelter but as he grows up he looks a lot like a coonhound! His coat is very red and has a touch of white on his toes and his chest. His ears are droopy and he has the most precious brown eyes. Anyway I know nothing about the breed....any tips? How are they as house dogs? Personailty? Required exercise? Size? So far he is very good!

All the coonhounds are SMOOTH coated. You doubtless have a mutt.

If you have one of these dogs you are very lucky!
These are fine dogs with very good noses.
Do not over feed this dog, feed him enough, not too much, keep him active, take him to the vet twice a year
and he will live a long full life.
Also these dogs need lots of love!

Best of luck!
