Calling someone by their full name distances that person. Parents do this deliberately so that it is clear beyond doubt that the child is loved that much less. And always will be.

Wellll at least they know their names lol! I remember visiting a friend, she has 4 kids and wanted to call one of her boys.. she called all the others and finally the right name! In the end she said " ohhh you know I know YOUR name..get here will ya!" The kids had a good laugh and I was in giggles over it.

Maybe because it makes the statement sound more formal, like a teacher would say it or a police officer. Just a thought!

because if you only use their first name, it is less formal and when you say it loudly and strongly, it doesn't have as much effect on the word, but if you use their full name it gives the impression that it is not a casual and laid back conversation.. meaning they are in trouble.

That's the reason we have complete names. It's how we know they are angry with us. So instead of swearing at us, they can use all that swearing energy by reciting our full names.

With my hell-raisers it just takes to the middle name and they know I mean business. I know when I break out the middle name I am usually surprised with their actions and know they know better.
