I'm expecting a truckload of lame answers from the christians here....

It will be interesting to see if there is any answer why the NT should be believed that is compatible with sanity and rational thought.

Of course it should be believed. See some of the Books in the old testament are interpreted in the new testament for Instance the book of Daniel, if you compare it with revelation you will notice some similarlities. In other words the past is the devine womb from which the present is born.

I'm kidding, the new testament actually doesn't say that it is inspired by God. it says that scripture is God-breathed and Paul probably didn't consider it scripture when he wrote it.

2 Timothy 3:16- ALL SCRIPTURES is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction, in righteousness.

Yes. because those who wrote it were inspired by God and also these scriptures were written for the church.
