I JUST BOUGHT A BLUE NOSE PIT PUPPY (4WEEKS OLD) AND WHILE SLEEPING HE TENDS TO YELP AND SHAKE ALMOST AS IF HE IS HAVING A SEIZURE. WHAT COULD BE THE REASON FOR THIS? I KNOW HE IS VERY YOUNG TO BE FROM HIS MAMA BUT HIS LIVING SITUATION WAS HORRIBLE!!!

This puppy should still be with mom - for feeding reasons and also for socialization with dogs/puppies...it sounds like you had to take him - but you are in for a BIG challenge. Keep him warm, and make sure you are feeding milk replacer (often - pups need to eat small meals throughout the day - check with a vet for how often!!!)
It will be really important to make sure he is getting the proper nutrition - and also socialize him when he is a bit older with other pups. Enroll him in a puppy class as soon as you can!!!! Check out some behavior articles for later on...
Some dogs "dream" when they are sleeping - but since this is such a young puppy - you should go to the vet anyway a check -up. Make an appointment, and ask what the vet thinks about this behavior...

I have a chow- yellow lab mix, who was discarded at 4
weeks by the owner of the mother. It is too young to be away from Mama. He hasn't been properly weened, but what can you do? The alternative is worse.
Anyway, I took one of those fuzzy character slippers and put a ticking clock inside of it. Lined a box with a blanket, put the pup and the ticking slipper into the box. Puppy was warm, and the clock apparently is a substitute for Mama's ticker. Worked for me, I was able to sleep finally!
Good luck to you, I hope it works.

If his living conditions were so horrible, he may be having bad dreams about it. 4 weeks is a bit young but if his living conditions were so bad, it's good that he's out of there. Good for you for taking him in. You might want to take him to the vet just to be sure there isn't anything physically wrong. I have worked with abandoned and abused animals all my life. They all have bad dreams about their past. You got your puppy young enough though that you shouldn't have many problems with training & such. Good luck to you & your puppy.

well, i would recommend that you take him/her to the vet. he mite be diabetic. i had a dog once her name was baby, she was doing the same thing. well it turned out that she was a diabetic. so if you have any vitamin C you should try that it worked for my dog. another reason could be that she/he misses the mother. and never give your puppy dairy milk if you do then your puppy is going to be at risk of dieing. now I'm sorry, but i cant give away any other types of information. (only in the clinic)

I would let this pup sleep next to me. It needs someone to feel secure with, since it has no mother.
Good luck with this pup and sometimes taking a pup from a bad situation is the only choice.

his living situation doesn't matter it should not be away from it mum until 8 weeks at the earliest. it may be unhealthy or most likely still need its mothers milk and is trying to find it. you should of called animal protection or taken all of them.
also puppies that young find it hard to regulate the temperature its probably too cold or hot
get it checked by vet.!!!!

This may sound stupid, buuut.... he's "dreaming." (Not the scientific term, of course, but that's what we've always called it...)Both of my adult dogs do this, as did every other dog I've ever had. It's very normal, even if it is a little scary. I've noticed it happens more when they are sleeping hard (like at night) as opposed to just short little naps throughout the day.

I think 4 weeks is to young to be away from its mother, that might be why..., well I can understand why you wanted to get him out of there if it was horrible, but I'm going to lean to being away from its mother as the cause
