a cnc machining center ( computer numerically controlled ) has the capability of performing many highly accurate machining functions do to programmable feed and speed and automatic tool change in process. This means that the work can remain fixtured while either the fixture table or tool spindle automatically adjust position as programed to perform a machining task. an assortment of changeable tools stored in a magazine allow for various tasks such as milling, drilling, spot faceing, thread milling etc. as required to produce a finished machined part. This may be repeated time and time again with exceptional tolerance capability. In modern manufacturing once the machine is programmed the operator simply changes out the raw materials as the machining operation is completed and the process continues. In some instances the machine is auto loaded also simply leaving the operator to monitor the machine for errors or trouble with worn tooling.

cnc stands for computer numerical control which means that the movements of the machine tool are controlled by a computer, drilling is performed with a drill which is a cutting tool that cuts metal by twisting or revolving on its own axis and as force is exerted downwards it will drilla hole in the stock material, where milling is performed with a tool for milling which can be vertical or end mill or horizontal or plano mill and the tool as rotates cuts a chip sidewise or endwise it can make a groove or, if fed only downwards,it will also mill a hole
