Does texting, IM and chat cause poor grammar and bad writing?

I am finding more and more young people do not have the writing skills to be effective in today's work force. People spell and write like they talk. When asked to move from "cyber world" to the "real world", the youth are failing miserably. Am I the only one who is noticing this?

I heard about the "crisis" on the National News. That's why more young people are unable to support themselves and have to live with "mom and dad". What can be done about this growing problem before the tax payers are forced to support this jobless generation?

It is not "caused" by texting etc. It is learned by the new generation who have never been taught responsibility or consequences for their actions. It is a deep problem in part caused by parenting and in part by the schools who no longer demand excellence. In graduate school in this country these days there are a lot of foreign students, in part because there are not enough good American students. This is also part of why we have so many foreign workers in this country. There are a lot of horror stories out there. How about college graduates who can't do simple math?

YOu know I find out that when I am talking to friends on whatever Iam not as particular on my keystrokes. Most of the time it is not that I have bad grammer it is just my typing so fast and not really care aobut corresting it for my friends when they don't care. BUt when I am in class for college I try to do my best at making sure everything is in the best grammar.

I don't believe so if parent pay attention to their children's education and most adults know how to spell properly it's just a matter of taking the time to do it. I think as long as you use proper grammar when speaking or in class what's the problem?
